¹⁴ Nevertheless you have done well that ^(A)you shared in my distress.

^16 (A)But do not forget to do good and to share, for ^(B)with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

⁷ just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace.

³⁴ for you had compassion on ^[a]me ^(A)in my chains, and ^(B)joyfully accepted the plundering of your ^[b]goods, knowing that ^(C)you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves ^[c]in heaven.

Be Generous and Do Good

^6 (A)Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.

^18 (A)But the Lord said to my father David, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a temple for My name, you did well that it was in your heart.

¹⁸ Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share,

¹⁸ Indeed I ^[a]have all and abound. I am full, having received from ^(A)Epaphroditus the things sent from you, ^(B)a sweet-smelling aroma, ^(C)an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.

Gaius Commended for Generosity

⁵ Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren ^[a]and for strangers, ⁶ who have borne witness of your love before the church. If you send them forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God, you will do well, ⁷ because they went forth for His name’s sake, ^(A)taking nothing from the Gentiles. ⁸ We therefore ought to ^(B)receive^[b] such, that we may become fellow workers for the truth.

¹⁰ Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written, that ^(A)he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope. ^11 (B)If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things?
