²² Are they ^(A)Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? So am I.

Israel’s Rejection Not Total

11 I say then, ^(A)has God cast away His people? ^(B)Certainly not! For ^(C)I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

⁶ But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Men and brethren, ^(A)I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee; ^(B)concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!”

⁴ “My manner of life from my youth, which was spent from the beginning among my own nation at Jerusalem, all the Jews know. ⁵ They knew me from the first, if they were willing to testify, that according to ^(A)the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

^3 (A)“I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city ^(B)at the feet of ^(C)Gamaliel, taught ^(D)according to the strictness of our fathers’ law, and ^(E)was zealous toward God ^(F)as you all are today.

¹² He who is eight days old among you ^(A)shall be circumcised, every male child in your generations, he who is born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not your descendant.

²¹ Jesus answered and said to them, “I did one work, and you all marvel. ^22 (A)Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, ^(B)but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. ²³ If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because ^(C)I made a man completely well on the Sabbath? ^24 (D)Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

⁵⁹ So it was, ^(A)on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him by the name of his father, Zacharias.
