¹⁰ I want to know^(A) Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings,^(B) becoming like him in his death,^(C)

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ^(A) and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.^(B) The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,^(C) who loved me^(D) and gave himself for me.^(E)

Living for God

4 Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body,^(A) arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.^{(B) 2} As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires,^(C) but rather for the will of God.

¹¹ Here is a trustworthy saying:^(A)

¹⁷ Now if we are children, then we are heirs^(A)—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings^(B) in order that we may also share in his glory.^(C)

³ Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized^(A) into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? ⁴ We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death^(B) in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead^(C) through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.^(D)

⁵ For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.^{(E) 6} For we know that our old self^(F) was crucified with him^(G) so that the body ruled by sin^(H) might be done away with,^[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin^(I)— ⁷ because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.^(J)

⁸ Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.^{(K) 9} For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead,^(L) he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.^{(M) 10} The death he died, he died to sin^(N) once for all;^(O) but the life he lives, he lives to God.

¹¹ In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin^(P) but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

¹⁹ and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power^(A) is the same as the mighty strength^{(B) 20} he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead^(C) and seated him at his right hand^(D) in the heavenly realms,^{(E) 21} far above all rule and authority, power and dominion,^(F) and every name^(G) that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.^(H)

¹³ But rejoice^(A) inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ,^(B) so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.^{(C) 14} If you are insulted because of the name of Christ,^(D) you are blessed,^(E) for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

⁸ What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing^(A) Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ^(B)
