²⁰ I have no one else like Timothy, who genuinely cares about your welfare.

² Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

²² But you know how Timothy has proved himself. Like a son with his father, he has served with me in preaching the Good News.

¹⁰ When Timothy comes, don’t intimidate him. He is doing the Lord’s work, just as I am.

⁶ Not that he cared for the poor—he was a thief, and since he was in charge of the disciples’ money, he often stole some for himself.

¹³ The hired hand runs away because he’s working only for the money and doesn’t really care about the sheep.

³ And Jonathan made a solemn pact with David, because he loved him as he loved himself.

⁵ I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.

² I am writing to Timothy, my true son in the faith.

May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.

¹¹ Jesus (the one we call Justus) also sends his greetings. These are the only Jewish believers among my co-workers; they are working with me here for the Kingdom of God. And what a comfort they have been!
