⁷ It is right^(A) for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart^(B) and, whether I am in chains^(C) or defending^(D) and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me.

³ I do not say this to condemn you; I have said before that you have such a place in our hearts^(A) that we would live or die with you.

⁵ because of your partnership^(A) in the gospel from the first day^(B) until now,

⁹ for which I am suffering^(A) even to the point of being chained^(B) like a criminal. But God’s word^(C) is not chained.

¹⁸ I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand.^(A) Remember^(B) my chains.^(C) Grace be with you.^(D)

¹⁴ Yet it was good of you to share^(A) in my troubles.

¹⁶ The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.^{(A) 17} The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition,^(B) not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.^(C)

²⁰ for which I am an ambassador^(A) in chains.^(B) Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

3 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner^(A) of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles—

²³ I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me^(A) that prison and hardships are facing me.^(B)
