¹⁸ What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice.

To Live Is Christ

Yes, and I will rejoice,

⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, “Do not stop him, ^(A)for the one who is not against you is for you.”

Anyone Not Against Us Is for Us

^38 (A)John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone ^(B)casting out demons in your name,^[a] and ^(C)we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” ³⁹ But Jesus said, “Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. ^40 (D)For the one who is not against us is for us.

¹¹ Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

¹⁴ And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold ^(A)to speak the word^[a] without fear.

^15 (B)Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. ¹⁶ The latter do it out of love, ^(C)knowing that I am put here for ^(D)the defense of the gospel. ¹⁷ The former proclaim Christ ^(E)out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment.

¹⁵ What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; ^(A)I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will ^(B)sing with my mind also.

⁹ Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, ^(A)does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching ^(B)has both the Father and the Son. ¹⁰ If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, ^(C)do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, ¹¹ for whoever greets him ^(D)takes part in his wicked works.

^40 (A)who devour widows' houses and ^(B)for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”

¹³ “But woe ^(A)to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you ^(B)shut the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. For you ^(C)neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.^[a]
