¹⁶ The latter do it out of love, ^(A)knowing that I am put here for ^(B)the defense of the gospel.

The Light of the Gospel

4 Therefore, having ^(A)this ministry ^(B)by the mercy of God,^[a] we do not lose heart. ² But we have renounced ^(C)disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice^[b] cunning or ^(D)to tamper with God's word, but ^(E)by the open statement of the truth ^(F)we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.

¹⁷ For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.

The Advance of the Gospel

¹² I want you to know, brothers,^[a] that what has happened to me has really ^(A)served to advance the gospel,

¹⁰ so that you may approve what is excellent, ^(A)and so be pure and blameless ^(B)for the day of Christ,

⁷ It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you ^(A)in my heart, for you are all ^(B)partakers with me of grace,^[a] both ^(C)in my imprisonment and in ^(D)the defense and confirmation of the gospel.
