⁵ Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.^(A)

⁸ You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming^(A) is near.^{(B) 9} Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters,^(C) or you will be judged. The Judge^(D) is standing at the door!^(E)

Do Not Worry^(A)

²⁵ “Therefore I tell you, do not worry^(B) about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?

² to slander no one,^(A) to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.

³⁷ For,

⁷ The end of all things is near.^(A) Therefore be alert and of sober mind^(B) so that you may pray.

⁷ The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?^(A)

Do Not Worry^(A)

²² Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. ²³ For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. ²⁴ Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them.^(B) And how much more valuable you are than birds! ²⁵ Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life^[a]? ²⁶ Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

²⁷ “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor^(C) was dressed like one of these. ²⁸ If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!^{(D) 29} And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. ³⁰ For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father^(E) knows that you need them.^(F)

²⁹ If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. ³⁰ Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.^{(A) 31} Do to others as you would have them do to you.^(B)

³² “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?^(C) Even sinners love those who love them. ³³ And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. ³⁴ And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you?^(D) Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. ³⁵ But love your enemies, do good to them,^(E) and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children^(F) of the Most High,^(G) because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
