Psalm 104:10-28

New International Version

¹⁰He makes springs^(A) pour water into the ravines;
    it flows between the mountains.
¹¹They give water^(B) to all the beasts of the field;
    the wild donkeys^(C) quench their thirst.
¹²The birds of the sky^(D) nest by the waters;
    they sing among the branches.^(E)
¹³He waters the mountains^(F) from his upper chambers;^(G)
    the land is satisfied by the fruit of his work.^(H)
¹⁴He makes grass grow^(I) for the cattle,
    and plants for people to cultivate—
    bringing forth food^(J) from the earth:
¹⁵wine^(K) that gladdens human hearts,
    oil^(L) to make their faces shine,
    and bread that sustains^(M) their hearts.
¹⁶The trees of the Lord^(N) are well watered,
    the cedars of Lebanon^(O) that he planted.
¹⁷There the birds^(P) make their nests;
    the stork has its home in the junipers.
¹⁸The high mountains belong to the wild goats;^(Q)
    the crags are a refuge for the hyrax.^(R)

¹⁹He made the moon to mark the seasons,^(S)
    and the sun^(T) knows when to go down.
²⁰You bring darkness,^(U) it becomes night,^(V)
    and all the beasts of the forest^(W) prowl.
²¹The lions roar for their prey^(X)
    and seek their food from God.^(Y)
²²The sun rises, and they steal away;
    they return and lie down in their dens.^(Z)
²³Then people go out to their work,^(AA)
    to their labor until evening.^(AB)

²⁴How many are your works,^(AC) Lord!
    In wisdom you made^(AD) them all;
    the earth is full of your creatures.^(AE)
²⁵There is the sea,^(AF) vast and spacious,
    teeming with creatures beyond number—
    living things both large and small.^(AG)
²⁶There the ships^(AH) go to and fro,
    and Leviathan,^(AI) which you formed to frolic^(AJ) there.^(AK)

²⁷All creatures look to you
    to give them their food^(AL) at the proper time.
²⁸When you give it to them,
    they gather it up;
when you open your hand,
    they are satisfied^(AM) with good things.

Matthew 6:19-34

Treasures in Heaven^(A)

¹⁹“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,^(B) where moths and vermin destroy,^(C) and where thieves break in and steal. ²⁰But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,^(D) where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.^(E) ²¹For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.^(F)

²²“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy,^[a] your whole body will be full of light. ²³But if your eyes are unhealthy,^[b] your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

²⁴“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.^(G)

Do Not Worry^(H)

²⁵“Therefore I tell you, do not worry^(I) about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? ²⁶Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.^(J) Are you not much more valuable than they?^(K) ²⁷Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life^[c]?^(L)

²⁸“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. ²⁹Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor^(M) was dressed like one of these. ³⁰If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?^(N) ³¹So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ ³²For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.^(O) ³³But seek first his kingdom^(P) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.^(Q) ³⁴Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
