Dios Habla Hoy
7 cuando quiero curar a mi pueblo, a Efraín y a Samaria,
salta a la vista su pecado y su maldad.
Porque todos practican la mentira;
como ladrones, entran en las casas
y asaltan a la gente en plena calle.
2 No toman en cuenta
que yo recuerdo todas sus maldades.
Ahora los acorralan sus propias acciones,
que están siempre delante de mis ojos.
La corrupción de los gobernantes
3 »Con su maldad y sus mentiras
mi pueblo divierte al rey y a los jefes.
4 Todos ellos son adúlteros;
son como el horno, que una vez encendido
deja el hornero de atizarlo
mientras fermenta la masa.
5 En el día de la coronación de nuestro rey,
los jefes le hicieron enfermar con el calor del vino.
¡Y él tendió la mano a los que se burlaban!
6 Disponen su corazón para la intriga,
como si dispusieran un horno;
duerme el hornero toda la noche,
pero a la mañana el horno sigue bien encendido.
7 Sí, todos ellos arden como un horno
que devoró a sus gobernantes.
Todos sus reyes han caído,
y no hay ni uno solo que me invoque.
El pueblo que se apartó de su Dios
8 »Efraín se ha mezclado con otros pueblos.
Efraín es como una torta
cocida solamente por un lado.
9 Gente extraña ha acabado con sus fuerzas
sin que él se diera cuenta.
¡Hasta el pelo se le puso blanco
sin que él se diera cuenta!
10 El orgullo de Israel es testigo en contra suya.
Con todo, ellos no se volvieron
ni buscaron al Señor su Dios.
11 Efraín es como una paloma
atolondrada, sin inteligencia:
pide ayuda a Egipto,
acude luego a Asiria...
12 Pero cuando vayan allá,
lanzaré mi red sobre ellos;
los haré caer como aves del cielo,
los atraparé a causa de su maldad.
13 »¡Ay de ellos por haberse apartado de mí!
La destrucción los alcanzará
porque contra mí se han rebelado.
Yo quiero salvarlos,
pero ellos mienten en contra mía.
14 Aunque gritan cuando están en la cama,
no me invocan de corazón.
Para pedir trigo y vino se hacen heridas;
¡se han rebelado contra mí!
15 Yo los había enseñado
y había dado fuerzas a sus brazos,
pero ellos planearon maldades contra mí.
16 Se volvieron a los ídolos;
son como un arco torcido,
cuya flecha no da en el blanco.
Por hablar con insolencia
caerán sus jefes a filo de espada,
y en Egipto se burlarán de ellos.

7 1 whenever I would heal Israel,
the sins of Ephraim are exposed
and the crimes of Samaria revealed.(A)
They practice deceit,(B)
thieves break into houses,(C)
bandits rob in the streets;(D)
2 but they do not realize
that I remember(E) all their evil deeds.(F)
Their sins engulf them;(G)
they are always before me.
3 “They delight the king with their wickedness,
the princes with their lies.(H)
4 They are all adulterers,(I)
burning like an oven
whose fire the baker need not stir
from the kneading of the dough till it rises.
5 On the day of the festival of our king
the princes become inflamed with wine,(J)
and he joins hands with the mockers.(K)
6 Their hearts are like an oven;(L)
they approach him with intrigue.
Their passion smolders all night;
in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.
7 All of them are hot as an oven;
they devour their rulers.
All their kings fall,(M)
and none of them calls(N) on me.
8 “Ephraim mixes(O) with the nations;
Ephraim is a flat loaf not turned over.
9 Foreigners sap his strength,(P)
but he does not realize it.
His hair is sprinkled with gray,
but he does not notice.
10 Israel’s arrogance testifies against him,(Q)
but despite all this
he does not return(R) to the Lord his God
or search(S) for him.
11 “Ephraim is like a dove,(T)
easily deceived and senseless—
now calling to Egypt,(U)
now turning to Assyria.(V)
12 When they go, I will throw my net(W) over them;
I will pull them down like the birds in the sky.
When I hear them flocking together,
I will catch them.
13 Woe(X) to them,
because they have strayed(Y) from me!
Destruction to them,
because they have rebelled against me!
I long to redeem them
but they speak about me(Z) falsely.(AA)
14 They do not cry out to me from their hearts(AB)
but wail on their beds.
They slash themselves,[a] appealing to their gods
for grain and new wine,(AC)
but they turn away from me.(AD)
15 I trained(AE) them and strengthened their arms,
but they plot evil(AF) against me.
16 They do not turn to the Most High;(AG)
they are like a faulty bow.(AH)
Their leaders will fall by the sword
because of their insolent(AI) words.
For this they will be ridiculed(AJ)
in the land of Egypt.(AK)
