Apostasía y castigo de Israel
5 »Ustedes los sacerdotes, escuchen esto; y ustedes, los de la casa de Israel, presten atención; y ustedes, los de la casa real, óiganlo bien. Porque la sentencia es contra ustedes, pues en Mispá fueron una trampa y en el Tabor fueron una red. 2 Con tantas víctimas que han hecho se han rebajado por completo. Por lo tanto, a todos ellos los castigaré.
3 »A Efraín lo conozco, e Israel no me es desconocido; pero ahora resulta que Efraín se ha prostituido, y que Israel se ha contaminado. 4 Como en ellos habita el espíritu de prostitución, no me conocen a mí, el Señor su Dios, ni piensan en volverse a mí.»
5 La arrogancia de Israel le desmentirá en su propia cara; Israel y Efraín caerán por su pecado, y Judá caerá también con ellos. 6 Andan en busca del Señor mientras guían a sus ovejas y sus vacas; pero no lo encuentran, porque él se ha apartado de ellos. 7 Pecaron contra el Señor al engendrar hijos extraños. Ahora, en un solo mes serán consumidos ellos y sus propiedades.
8 «¡Toquen la bocina en Gabaa y la trompeta en Ramá! ¡Den la voz de alarma en Bet Avén! Y tú, Benjamín, ¡ponte a temblar! 9 En el día del castigo, Efraín será asolado. Yo daré a conocer la verdad entre las tribus de Israel. 10 Los príncipes de Judá se parecen a los que no respetan los linderos. Por eso derramaré mi ira sobre ellos, como si derramara agua.
11 »A Efraín se le ultraja y se le quebranta en el juicio, porque prefirió seguir a los dioses falsos. 12 Por eso yo seré para Efraín como la polilla, y para la casa de Judá seré como carcoma. 13 Entonces Efraín verá su enfermedad, y Judá contemplará su llaga. Y Efraín recurrirá al rey Jareb de Asiria en busca de ayuda, pero él no podrá sanarlos ni les curará la llaga. 14 Ciertamente yo seré para Efraín como un león, y para la casa de Judá seré como un cachorro. Los atraparé, y luego me iré. Los agarraré, y no habrá quien me los quite.

5 »¡Oigan esto, sacerdotes!
¡Pongan atención, israelitas!
¡Escucha, casa real!
¡Contra ustedes es la sentencia!
En Mizpa han sido ustedes una trampa;
en el monte Tabor, una red tendida.
2 Los rebeldes se han excedido en su matanza;
por eso, yo los disciplinaré a todos.
3 Yo conozco bien a Efraín;
Israel no me es desconocido.
Tú, Efraín, te has prostituido;
e Israel se ha contaminado.
4 »Sus malas obras no les permiten
volverse a su Dios;
hay espíritu de prostitución en su interior
que les impide reconocer al Señor.
5 La arrogancia de Israel testificará en su contra;
Israel y Efraín tropezarán con su maldad,
también Judá caerá como ellos.
6 Con sus ovejas y sus vacas
irán en busca del Señor,
pero no lo encontrarán
porque él se ha apartado de ellos.
7 Han traicionado al Señor;
han dado a luz hijos de otros padres.
Al llegar la luna nueva
serán devorados junto a sus heredades.
8 »Toquen el cuerno en Guibeá,
hagan sonar la trompeta en Ramá,
lancen el grito de guerra en Bet Avén:[a]
“¡Cuídate las espaldas, Benjamín!”.
9 En el día de la reprensión
Efraín quedará desolado.
Entre las tribus de Israel
doy a conocer lo que les va a pasar.
10 Los líderes de Judá se parecen
a los que alteran los linderos.
¡Derramaré mi enojo sobre ellos
como agua en una inundación!
11 Efraín está oprimido,
aplastado por el juicio,
empeñado en seguir a los ídolos.[b]
12 ¡Pues seré para Efraín como polilla
y como podredumbre para el pueblo de Judá!
13 »Cuando Efraín vio su enfermedad
y Judá reparó en sus llagas,
Efraín recurrió a Asiria
y pidió la ayuda del gran rey.
Pero el rey no podrá sanarlo
ni tampoco curar sus llagas.
14 Yo seré como un león para Efraín
y como un gran león para el pueblo de Judá.
Yo mismo los haré pedazos y luego me alejaré;
yo mismo me llevaré la presa y no habrá quien me la arrebate.
15 Volveré luego a mi morada
hasta que reconozcan su culpa
y busquen mi rostro;
en su angustia
me buscarán con sinceridad».

5 1-2 »¡Escúchenme, sacerdotes!
¡Atiéndanme, jefes de Israel!
¡Préstenme atención,
familiares del rey!
Yo los voy a juzgar y a castigar
porque han engañado a mi pueblo.
¡Hicieron a Israel aun más rebelde!
Lo obligaron a adorar a otros dioses
en los santuarios de Mispá y de Tabor.
3 »Israelitas,
yo sé cómo se portan ustedes;
¡se portan como una prostituta,
4 porque adoran a otros dioses!
No me reconocen como su Dios,
ni se arrepienten de su maldad.
5 Ustedes son tan malos y orgullosos
que acabarán por ser destruidos;
¡lo mismo pasará con Judá!
6 »Pero un día me buscarán;
y llevarán como ofrenda
sus vacas y sus ovejas,
pero no podrán encontrarme.
¡Yo los abandonaré!
7 Se han portado como una adúltera:
me engañaron adorando a otros dioses,
y sus descendientes ya no serán mi pueblo.
Por eso, muy pronto,
tanto ustedes como sus campos
serán destruidos.

8 »¡Avísenles a todos en Guibeá,
Ramá y Bet-avén!
¡Den el toque de alerta!
¡Adviertan a los del reino de Judá!
9 Israelitas, yo les aseguro
que cumpliré lo que antes anuncié.
El día que yo los castigue,
¡dejaré su país en ruinas!
10 »Voy a castigar con furia
a los jefes de Judá,
porque son como los ladrones de terrenos:
han invadido el territorio de Israel.
11 El reino de Israel es maltratado
y nadie respeta sus derechos
porque prefirió adorar a dioses falsos.
12 Por eso yo acabaré con ese reino
y con el reino de Judá;
¡los destruiré por completo,
como destruye la polilla a la madera!
13 Y cuando Israel y Judá
se vean en ruinas,
buscarán la ayuda del rey de Asiria;
pero él no podrá ayudarlos.
14-15 »Yo atacaré a Israel y a Judá
con la misma furia de un león.
Los agarraré y los haré pedazos,
y no habrá quien los salve.
Luego los dejaré por un tiempo,
y esperaré a que se arrepientan;
cuando reconozcan que me han ofendido,
se llenarán de angustia y me buscarán.»

Impending Judgment on Israel and Judah
5 “Hear this, O priests!
Take heed, O house of Israel!
Give ear, O house of the king!
For [a]yours is the judgment,
Because (A)you have been a snare to Mizpah
And a net spread on Tabor.
2 The revolters are (B)deeply involved in slaughter,
Though I rebuke them all.
3 (C)I know Ephraim,
And Israel is not hidden from Me;
For now, O Ephraim, (D)you commit harlotry;
Israel is defiled.
4 “They[b] do not direct their deeds
Toward turning to their God,
For (E)the spirit of harlotry is in their midst,
And they do not know the Lord.
5 The (F)pride of Israel testifies to his face;
Therefore Israel and Ephraim stumble in their iniquity;
Judah also stumbles with them.
6 “With their flocks and herds
(G)They shall go to seek the Lord,
But they will not find Him;
He has withdrawn Himself from them.
7 They have (H)dealt treacherously with the Lord,
For they have begotten [c]pagan children.
Now a New Moon shall devour them and their heritage.
8 “Blow(I) the ram’s horn in Gibeah,
The trumpet in Ramah!
(J)Cry aloud at (K)Beth Aven,
‘Look behind you, O Benjamin!’
9 Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke;
Among the tribes of Israel I make known what is sure.
10 “The princes of Judah are like those who (L)remove a landmark;
I will pour out My wrath on them like water.
11 Ephraim is (M)oppressed and broken in judgment,
Because he willingly walked by (N)human precept.
12 Therefore I will be to Ephraim like a moth,
And to the house of Judah (O)like rottenness.
13 “When Ephraim saw his sickness,
And Judah saw his (P)wound,
Then Ephraim went (Q)to Assyria
And sent to King Jareb;
Yet he cannot cure you,
Nor heal you of your wound.
14 For (R)I will be like a lion to Ephraim,
And like a young lion to the house of Judah.
(S)I, even I, will tear them and go away;
I will take them away, and no one shall rescue.
15 I will return again to My place
Till they [d]acknowledge their offense.
Then they will seek My face;
In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”

Judgment Against Israel
5 “Hear this, you priests!
Pay attention, you Israelites!
Listen, royal house!
This judgment(A) is against you:
You have been a snare(B) at Mizpah,
a net(C) spread out on Tabor.
2 The rebels are knee-deep in slaughter.(D)
I will discipline all of them.(E)
3 I know all about Ephraim;
Israel is not hidden(F) from me.
Ephraim, you have now turned to prostitution;
Israel is corrupt.(G)
4 “Their deeds do not permit them
to return(H) to their God.
A spirit of prostitution(I) is in their heart;
they do not acknowledge(J) the Lord.
5 Israel’s arrogance testifies(K) against them;
the Israelites, even Ephraim, stumble(L) in their sin;
Judah also stumbles with them.(M)
6 When they go with their flocks and herds
to seek the Lord,(N)
they will not find him;
he has withdrawn(O) himself from them.
7 They are unfaithful(P) to the Lord;
they give birth to illegitimate(Q) children.
When they celebrate their New Moon feasts,(R)
he will devour[a](S) their fields.
8 “Sound the trumpet(T) in Gibeah,(U)
the horn in Ramah.(V)
Raise the battle cry in Beth Aven[b];(W)
lead on, Benjamin.
9 Ephraim will be laid waste(X)
on the day of reckoning.(Y)
Among the tribes of Israel
I proclaim what is certain.(Z)
10 Judah’s leaders are like those
who move boundary stones.(AA)
I will pour out my wrath(AB) on them
like a flood of water.
11 Ephraim is oppressed,
trampled in judgment,
intent on pursuing idols.[c](AC)
12 I am like a moth(AD) to Ephraim,
like rot(AE) to the people of Judah.
13 “When Ephraim(AF) saw his sickness,
and Judah his sores,
then Ephraim turned to Assyria,(AG)
and sent to the great king for help.(AH)
But he is not able to cure(AI) you,
not able to heal your sores.(AJ)
14 For I will be like a lion(AK) to Ephraim,
like a great lion to Judah.
I will tear them to pieces(AL) and go away;
I will carry them off, with no one to rescue them.(AM)
15 Then I will return to my lair(AN)
until they have borne their guilt(AO)
and seek my face(AP)—
in their misery(AQ)
they will earnestly seek me.(AR)”
