Oseas 4
La Palabra (Hispanoamérica)
Oráculos contra Israel (4,1—9,9)
Dios acusa a Israel y a sus sacerdotes
4 Escuchen, israelitas,
la palabra del Señor,
porque el Señor está en pleito
con los habitantes del país,
pues no hay fidelidad ni amor
ni conocimiento de Dios en el país.
2 Proliferan perjurios y mentiras,
asesinatos y robos,
adulterios y violencias;
los crímenes se multiplican.
3 Por eso el país está de luto
y todos sus habitantes languidecen;
desaparecen las aves del cielo,
las bestias del campo
e incluso los peces del mar.
4 Pero que no se acuse
ni se censure a nadie,
pues contra ti, sacerdote,
va dirigida mi querella.
5 Tú tropezarás en pleno día,
y también el profeta
tropezará contigo de noche;
perecerás junto con tu estirpe.
6 Mi pueblo perece
por falta de conocimiento;
y como tú rechazaste el conocimiento,
yo te rechazaré a ti de mi sacerdocio;
por haber olvidado la ley de tu Dios,
también yo me olvidaré de tus hijos.
7 Cuantos más eran [los sacerdotes]
más pecaban contra mí;
por eso cambiaré su gloria en infamia.
8 Se alimentan del pecado de mi pueblo,
están ávidos de sus delitos.
9 Pero pueblo y sacerdotes
correrán la misma suerte:
les pediré cuentas de su conducta
y les haré pagar sus acciones.
10 Comerán sin saciarse,
se prostituirán sin procrear,
porque han dejado de respetar al Señor.
11 La prostitución, el mosto y el vino
le han hecho perder el seso:
12 mi pueblo consulta a un madero
y se deja instruir por un leño;
un espíritu de prostitución los extravía
y se prostituyen apartándose de su Dios.
13 En la cima de las montañas
ofrecen sacrificios,
en las colinas queman incienso;
bajo la encina, el álamo y el terebinto,
—¡es tan agradable su sombra!—
se prostituyen las hijas de ustedes
y sus nueras cometen adulterio.
14 Pero no castigaré a sus hijas
a causa de sus prostituciones,
ni a sus nueras por sus adulterios;
son ellos los que se van con rameras
y ofrecen sacrificios con prostitutas sagradas;
y así es como va a la ruina
un pueblo que no entiende.
15 Si tú, Israel, te prostituyes,
que Judá no se haga culpable.
No vayan a Guilgal,
no suban a Bet-Avén
Hosea 4
King James Version
4 Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.
5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.
8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.
10 For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the Lord.
11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
12 My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
13 They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.
14 I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.
15 Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The Lord liveth.
16 For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the Lord will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
17 Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.
18 Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.
19 The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
Hosea 4
New King James Version
God’s Charge Against Israel
4 Hear the word of the Lord,
You children of Israel,
For the Lord brings a (A)charge[a] against the inhabitants of the land:
“There is no truth or mercy
Or (B)knowledge of God in the land.
2 By swearing and lying,
Killing and stealing and committing adultery,
They break all restraint,
With bloodshed [b]upon bloodshed.
3 Therefore (C)the land will mourn;
And (D)everyone who dwells there will waste away
With the beasts of the field
And the birds of the air;
Even the fish of the sea will be taken away.
4 “Now let no man contend, or rebuke another;
For your people are like those (E)who contend with the priest.
5 Therefore you shall stumble (F)in the day;
The prophet also shall stumble with you in the night;
And I will destroy your mother.
6 (G)My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being priest for Me;
(H)Because you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children.
7 “The more they increased,
The more they sinned against Me;
(I)I[c] will change [d]their glory into shame.
8 They eat up the sin of My people;
They set their [e]heart on their iniquity.
9 And it shall be: (J)like people, like priest.
So I will punish them for their ways,
And [f]reward them for their deeds.
10 For (K)they shall eat, but not have enough;
They shall commit harlotry, but not increase;
Because they have ceased obeying the Lord.
The Idolatry of Israel
11 “Harlotry, wine, and new wine (L)enslave the heart.
12 My people ask counsel from their (M)wooden idols,
And their [g]staff informs them.
For (N)the spirit of harlotry has caused them to stray,
And they have played the harlot against their God.
13 (O)They offer sacrifices on the mountaintops,
And burn incense on the hills,
Under oaks, poplars, and terebinths,
Because their shade is good.
(P)Therefore your daughters commit harlotry,
And your brides commit adultery.
14 “I will not punish your daughters when they commit harlotry,
Nor your brides when they commit adultery;
For the men themselves go apart with harlots,
And offer sacrifices with a (Q)ritual harlot.
Therefore people who do not understand will be trampled.
15 “Though you, Israel, play the harlot,
Let not Judah offend.
(R)Do not come up to Gilgal,
Nor go up to (S)Beth[h] Aven,
(T)Nor swear an oath, saying, ‘As the Lord lives’—
16 “For Israel (U)is stubborn
Like a stubborn calf;
Now the Lord will let them forage
Like a lamb in [i]open country.
17 “Ephraim is joined to idols,
(V)Let him alone.
18 Their drink [j]is rebellion,
They commit harlotry continually.
(W)Her [k]rulers [l]dearly love dishonor.
19 (X)The wind has wrapped her up in its wings,
And (Y)they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
