8 "Bjeri borisë! Armiku do të vërsulet mbi shtëpinë e Zotit si një shqiponjë, sepse kanë shkelur besëlidhjen time dhe kanë marrë nëpër këmbë ligjin tim.
2 Izraeli do të më bërtasë: "O Perëndia im, ne të njohim!".
3 Izraeli ka hedhur poshtë të mirën, armiku do ta ndjekë.
4 Kanë bërë mbretër disa, por jo sipas dëshirës sime; kanë caktuar krerë, por pa dijeninë time; me argjendin e tyre dhe me arin e tyre kanë bërë idhuj, me qëllim që të shkatërrohen.
5 Ai ka hedhur poshtë viçin tënd, o Samari. Zemërimi im u ndez kundër tyre. Deri kur do të jenë të paaftë për pastërti?
6 Edhe ky viç vjen nga Izraeli; e ka bërë një artizan dhe nuk është një perëndi; prandaj viçi i Samarisë do të bëhet copë-copë.
7 Meqenëse mbjellin erë, do të korrin furtunë. Kërcelli i grurit nuk do të bëjë kalli dhe nuk do të prodhojë grurë; edhe në se do të prodhojë, do ta hanë të huajt.
8 Izraelin po e gllabërojnë; ata janë bërë midis kombeve si një vazo e përçmuar.
9 Sepse janë ngjitur në Asiri, si një gomar i egër që jeton i vetmuar. Efraimi gjeti dashnorë me anë dhuratash.
10 Megjithëse ka gjetur dashnorë midis kombeve, tani unë do t’i mbledh dhe do të fillojnë të pakësohen nën barrën e mbretit të princave.
11 Sepse Efraimi ka shumuar altarët për të mëkatuar, ata janë bërë për të altare mëkati.
12 Kam shkruar për të gjërat e mëdha të ligjit tim, por ato u konsideruan si një gjë e çudishme.
13 Sa për flijimet që më ofrojnë, ata bëjnë fli mish dhe e hanë; por Zoti nuk i pëlqen. Tani ai do të kujtojë paudhësinë e tyre dhe do të ndëshkojë mëkatet e tyre: ata do të kthehen në Egjipt.
14 Izraeli ka harruar atë që e ka bërë dhe ka ndërtuar pallate; Juda ka shumuar qytetet e fortifikuara; por unë do të dërgoj zjarrin mbi qytetet e tij, i cili do t’i gllabërojë kështjellat e tij".

8 Embouche la trompette! L'ennemi fond comme un aigle sur la maison de l'Éternel, Parce qu'ils ont violé mon alliance, Et transgressé ma loi.
2 Ils crieront vers moi: Mon Dieu, nous te connaissons, nous Israël!
3 Israël a rejeté le bien; L'ennemi le poursuivra.
4 Ils ont établi des rois sans mon ordre, Et des chefs à mon insu; Ils ont fait des idoles avec leur argent et leur or; C'est pourquoi ils seront anéantis.
5 L'Éternel a rejeté ton veau, Samarie! Ma colère s'est enflammée contre eux. Jusques à quand refuseront-ils de se purifier?
6 Il vient d'Israël, un ouvrier l'a fabriqué, Et ce n'est pas Dieu; C'est pourquoi le veau de Samarie sera mis en pièces.
7 Puisqu'ils ont semé du vent, ils moissonneront la tempête; Ils n'auront pas un épi de blé; Ce qui poussera ne donnera point de farine, Et s'il y en avait, des étrangers la dévoreraient.
8 Israël est anéanti! Ils sont maintenant parmi les nations Comme un vase qui n'a pas de prix.
9 Car ils sont allés en Assyrie, Comme un âne sauvage qui se tient à l'écart; Éphraïm a fait des présents pour avoir des amis.
10 Quand même ils font des présents parmi les nations, Je vais maintenant les rassembler, Et bientôt ils souffriront sous le fardeau du roi des princes.
11 Éphraïm a multiplié les autels pour pécher, Et ces autels l'ont fait tomber dans le péché.
12 Que j'écrive pour lui toutes les ordonnances de ma loi, Elles sont regardées comme quelque chose d'étranger.
13 Ils immolent des victimes qu'ils m'offrent, Et ils en mangent la chair: L'Éternel n'y prend point de plaisir. Maintenant l'Éternel se souvient de leur iniquité, Et il punira leurs péchés: Ils retourneront en Égypte.
14 Israël a oublié celui qui l'a fait, Et a bâti des palais, Et Juda a multiplié les villes fortes; Mais j'enverrai le feu dans leurs villes, Et il en dévorera les palais.

The Apostasy of Israel
8 “Set the [a]trumpet to your mouth!
He shall come (A)like an eagle against the house of the Lord,
Because they have transgressed My covenant
And rebelled against My law.
2 (B)Israel will cry to Me,
‘My God, (C)we know You!’
3 Israel has rejected the good;
The enemy will pursue him.
4 “They(D) set up kings, but not by Me;
They made princes, but I did not acknowledge them.
From their silver and gold
They made idols for themselves—
That they might be cut off.
5 Your [b]calf [c]is rejected, O Samaria!
My anger is aroused against them—
(E)How long until they attain to innocence?
6 For from Israel is even this:
A (F)workman made it, and it is not God;
But the calf of Samaria shall be broken to pieces.
7 “They(G) sow the wind,
And reap the whirlwind.
The stalk has no bud;
It shall never produce meal.
If it should produce,
(H)Aliens would swallow it up.
8 (I)Israel is swallowed up;
Now they are among the Gentiles
(J)Like a vessel in which is no pleasure.
9 For they have gone up to Assyria,
Like (K)a wild donkey alone by itself;
Ephraim (L)has hired lovers.
10 Yes, though they have hired among the nations,
Now (M)I will gather them;
And they shall [d]sorrow a little,
Because of the [e]burden of (N)the king of princes.
11 “Because Ephraim has made many altars for sin,
They have become for him altars for sinning.
12 I have written for him (O)the great things of My law,
But they were considered a strange thing.
13 For the sacrifices of My offerings (P)they sacrifice flesh and eat it,
(Q)But the Lord does not accept them.
(R)Now He will remember their iniquity and punish their sins.
They shall return to Egypt.
14 “For(S) Israel has forgotten (T)his Maker,
And has built [f]temples;
Judah also has multiplied (U)fortified cities;
But (V)I will send fire upon his cities,
And it shall devour his [g]palaces.”
