22 Gott namn är mer värt än stor rikedom,
gott anseende bättre än silver och guld.
2 Rik och fattig får leva sida vid sida,
Herren har gjort dem båda.
3 Den kloke ser faran och söker skydd,
oförståndiga går vidare och får sitt straff.
4 Lön för ödmjukhet och Herrens fruktan,
är rikedom, ära och liv.
5 Törnen och snaror ligger på den svekfulles väg,
den som vill bevara sitt liv håller sig fjärran från dem.
6 Vänj den unge vid den väg han bör vandra,
så viker han ej av från den när han blir gammal.
7 Den rike råder över de fattiga,
låntagaren blir långivarens slav.
8 Den som sår orätt får skörda fördärv,
hans vredes stav skall få ett slut.
9 Den som unnar andra gott blir välsignad,
för han delar sitt bröd med den fattige.
10 Driv ut bespottaren så upphör kivet
och det blir slut på tvist och smädelse.
11 Den som älskar hjärtats renhet och talar vänligt
får kungen till vän.
12 Herrens ögon vakar över kunskapen,
den trolöses ord gör han om intet.
13 Den late säger: "Det är ett lejon där ute,
jag kan bli dödad mitt på gatan."
14 Främmande kvinnors mun är en djup grop,
den Herren är vred på faller i den.
15 Oförstånd vidlåder barnets hjärta,
fostrans ris driver bort det.
16 Att förtrycka den fattige för att få mer
och att ge åt en rik
leder bara till utarmning.
De visas ord (22:17-24:22)
17 Vänd hit ditt öra och hör de visas ord,
lägg min kunskap på ditt hjärta.
18 Det är gott att du bevarar dem i ditt inre,
låt dem alla ständigt vara på dina läppar.
19 För att du skall sätta din förtröstan till Herren,
undervisar jag i dag just dig.
20 Ja, jag har skrivit till dig
trettio ord med råd och kunskap
21 för att lära dig sanningens tillförlitliga ord,
så att du rätt kan svara dem som har sänt dig.
22 Plundra inte den fattige därför att han är fattig,
och krossa inte den olycklige i rätten.
23 Ty Herren skall ta sig an deras sak,
dem som rövar från dem skall han beröva livet.
24 Ge dig inte i lag med en lättretad man
och gå inte in till en hetlevrad,
25 så att du lär dig hans vägar
och lägger en snara för ditt liv.
26 Var inte bland dem som ger handslag
och går i borgen för lån.
27 Varför skulle man få ta den säng som du ligger på,
när du inte kan betala?
28 Flytta inte en gammal gränssten
som dina fäder har rest.
29 Ser du en man som är skicklig i sin syssla - han får träda
i kungars tjänst och behöver inte tjäna vanliga människor.

22 De más estima es el buen nombre que las muchas riquezas,
Y la buena gracia más que la plata y el oro.
2 El rico y el pobre se encuentran;
A ambos los hizo Jehová.
3 El avisado ve el mal y se esconde;
Mas los simples pasan adelante y reciben el daño.
4 Riquezas, honor y vida
Son la remuneración de la humildad y del temor de Jehová.
5 Espinos y lazos hay en el camino del perverso;
El que guarda su alma, se alejará de ellos.
6 Instruye al niño en el buen camino,
Y aun cuando envejezca no se apartará de él.
7 El rico se enseñorea de los pobres,
Y el que toma prestado es siervo del que presta.
8 El que siembra iniquidad, iniquidad segará,
Y la vara de su insolencia se consumirá.
9 El ojo misericordioso será bendecido,
Porque da de su pan al indigente.
10 Echa fuera al escarnecedor, y se irá la contienda,
Y cesarán las riñas y los insultos.
11 El que ama la limpieza de corazón,
Por la gracia de sus labios tendrá la amistad del rey.
12 Los ojos de Jehová velan por la ciencia;
Mas él confunde las palabras de los prevaricadores.
13 Dice el perezoso: Hay un león afuera;
Seré muerto en plena calle.
14 Fosa profunda es la boca de la mujer extraña;
Aquel contra el cual Jehová esté airado caerá en ella.
15 La necedad está ligada en el corazón del muchacho;
Mas la vara de la corrección la alejará de él.
16 El que oprime al pobre para aumentar sus ganancias,
O que da al rico, ciertamente se empobrecerá.
Preceptos y amonestaciones
17 Inclina tu oído y oye las palabras de los sabios,
Y aplica tu corazón a mi sabiduría;
18 Porque es cosa deliciosa, si las guardas dentro de ti;
Y las tienes todas a punto sobre tus labios.
19 Para que pongas tu confianza en Jehová,
Te las he hecho saber hoy a ti también.
20 ¿No te he escrito tres veces
En consejos y en ciencia,
21 Para hacerte saber la certidumbre de las palabras de verdad,
A fin de que vuelvas a informar fielmente a los que te enviaron?
22 No robes al pobre, porque es pobre,
Ni quebrantes en la puerta al afligido;
23 Porque Jehová defenderá la causa de ellos,
Y despojará el alma de aquellos que los despojaren.
24 No te juntes con el iracundo,
Ni te acompañes con el hombre violento,
25 No sea que aprendas sus maneras,
Y pongas trampa para tu alma.
26 No seas de aquellos que hacen tratos a la ligera,
Ni de los que salen por fiadores de deudas.

¿Por qué han de quitar tu cama de debajo de ti?

Que pusieron tus padres.
29 ¿Has visto un hombre solícito en su trabajo?

22 A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.(A)
2 Rich and poor have this in common:
The Lord is the Maker of them all.(B)
5 In the paths of the wicked are snares and pitfalls,(G)
but those who would preserve their life stay far from them.
6 Start(H) children off on the way they should go,(I)
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.(J)
7 The rich rule over the poor,
and the borrower is slave to the lender.
10 Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife;
quarrels and insults are ended.(O)
11 One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace
will have the king for a friend.(P)
12 The eyes of the Lord keep watch over knowledge,
but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.
13 The sluggard says, “There’s a lion outside!(Q)
I’ll be killed in the public square!”
14 The mouth of an adulterous woman is a deep pit;(R)

15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child,

Thirty Sayings of the Wise
Saying 1
17 Pay attention(U) and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise;(V)
apply your heart to what I teach,(W)
18 for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart
and have all of them ready on your lips.
19 So that your trust may be in the Lord,
I teach you today, even you.
20 Have I not written thirty sayings for you,
sayings of counsel and knowledge,
21 teaching you to be honest and to speak the truth,(X)
so that you bring back truthful reports
to those you serve?

22 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
2 The rich and poor meet together: the Lord is the maker of them all.
3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
4 By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.
5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
11 He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
12 The eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
