15 Ett mjukt svar stillar vrede, men hårda ord leder till gräl.
2 En klok lärare gör undervisningen till en glädje, men en okunnig får ingenting sagt.
3 Herren genomskådar allt och håller sitt öga både på de onda och de goda.
4 Vänliga ord ger liv och hälsa, medan hårda ord krossar modet.
5 Bara en dåre föraktar sin fars råd, men en vis son tänker igenom dem.
6 Den rättfärdige har alltid mer än nog för att kunna leva. Den som inte vill veta av Gud förlorar däremot allt han äger.
7 Bara goda människor kan ge goda råd vidare, men ett dumhuvud vet inget och förstår inget.
8 Herren avskyr de ogudaktigas gåvor, men gläder sig över sitt folks böner.
9-10 Herren avskyr allt vad de ogudaktiga gör, men älskar dem som söker det goda. De som överger den rätta vägen drabbas av hans vrede och den som inte accepterar att han tillrättavisar kommer att dö.
11 Till och med helvetets djup ligger öppet för Herrens insyn. Hur mycket bättre känner han då inte människornas innersta tankar och känslor.
12 Den högfärdige gillar inte att bli tillrättavisad. Därför lyssnar han inte till vad de visa säger.
13 Bakom ett leende ansikte finns ett glatt hjärta, men ett sorgset ansikte tyder på ett krossat hjärta.
14 Förnuftiga människor vill veta mera, men en dåre är nöjd som det är.
15 När en människa är nere, verkar allt vara mörkt, men för den lycklige är livet en fest!
16 Det är bättre att äga lite och tacka Herren för det än att äga en stor förmögenhet som bara skapar problem.
17 Det är bättre att äta soppa med någon man älskar, än oxfilé med dem som hatar en.
18 En man med häftigt humör vållar strid, men en man med tålamod försöker förhindra det.
19 Den late råkar alltid in i svårigheter, men den pålitlige tar sig alltid fram!
20 En förståndig son bereder sina föräldrar glädje, men en oförståndig får dem att rysa.
21 Om en människa tycker om dårskap är något galet. De förståndiga däremot gör vad som är rätt.
22 Utan rådgivare går planerna i stöpet, men med gemensamma överläggningar når man resultat.
23 Alla tycker om att ge goda råd, men hur underbart är det inte att kunna säga ett ord i rätt tid och vid rätt tillfälle!
24 De gudfruktiga går målmedvetet den väg som leder till livet, inte den väg som leder till döden.
25 Herren river ner de högfärdigas hus, men om änkors egendom har han omsorg.
26 Herren hatar de ogudaktigas tankar, men gläder sig åt vänliga ord.
27 Oärligt förtjänta pengar för olycka med sig för hela familjen, men att vägra att ta emot mutor ger ett långt liv.
28 En god människa tänker på vad hon säger. En ond människa häver däremot ur sig precis vad som helst.
29 Herren är långt borta från dem som inte vill veta av honom, men han lyssnar till bönerna från dem som älskar honom.
30 En vänlig blick och goda nyheter ger hela människan glädje och kraft.
31-32 Om du lyssnar till konstruktiv kritik, kommer du att bli en av de främsta bland de visa. Om du inte gör det kommer du att skada både dig själv och dina intressen.
33 Om du räknar med Herren blir du vis, och ödmjukhet är vägen till ära.

5 A fool spurns a parent’s discipline,
but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.(K)
6 The house of the righteous contains great treasure,(L)
but the income of the wicked brings ruin.(M)
7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge,(N)
but the hearts of fools are not upright.
10 Stern discipline awaits anyone who leaves the path;
the one who hates correction will die.(T)
12 Mockers resent correction,(W)
so they avoid the wise.
14 The discerning heart seeks knowledge,(Z)
but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.
15 All the days of the oppressed are wretched,
but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.(AA)
16 Better a little with the fear of the Lord
than great wealth with turmoil.(AB)
17 Better a small serving of vegetables with love
than a fattened calf with hatred.(AC)
19 The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns,(AF)
but the path of the upright is a highway.
20 A wise son brings joy to his father,(AG)
but a foolish man despises his mother.
21 Folly brings joy to one who has no sense,(AH)
but whoever has understanding keeps a straight course.
24 The path of life leads upward for the prudent
to keep them from going down to the realm of the dead.

but gracious words are pure(AR) in his sight.
27 The greedy bring ruin to their households,
but the one who hates bribes will live.(AS)
29 The Lord is far from the wicked,
but he hears the prayer of the righteous.(AV)
30 Light in a messenger’s eyes brings joy to the heart,
and good news gives health to the bones.(AW)
31 Whoever heeds life-giving correction
will be at home among the wise.(AX)

15 A (A)soft answer turns away wrath,
But (B)a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly,
(C)But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.
3 (D)The eyes of the Lord are in every place,
Keeping watch on the evil and the good.
4 A [a]wholesome tongue is a tree of life,
But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
6 In the house of the righteous there is much treasure,
But in the revenue of the wicked is trouble.
7 The lips of the wise [c]disperse knowledge,
But the heart of the fool does not do so.
8 (G)The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
But the prayer of the upright is His delight.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
But He loves him who (H)follows righteousness.
11 (K)Hell[d] and [e]Destruction are before the Lord;
So how much more (L)the hearts of the sons of men.
12 (M)A scoffer does not love one who corrects him,
Nor will he go to the wise.
13 (N)A merry heart makes a cheerful [f]countenance,

14 The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge,

Will abide among the wise.
32 He who disdains instruction despises his own soul,

3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
5 A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
6 In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.
7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.
8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29 The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.
31 The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
32 He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.
33 The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
