7 Daarna zag ik op de vier hoeken van de aarde vier engelen staan. Ze hielden de vier winden van de aarde tegen. Zo waaide er helemaal geen wind meer over het land, over de zee en door de bomen. 2 En ik zag een andere engel komen van waar de zon opkomt. Hij had het stempel van de levende God bij zich. Hij riep luid tegen de vier engelen die de winden tegenhielden en die de macht hadden gekregen om de aarde, de zee en de bomen kwaad te doen: 3 "Jullie mogen de aarde en de zee nog geen kwaad doen. Eerst moeten we een stempel zetten op het voorhoofd van de dienaren van God als bewijs dat ze van God zijn."

7 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners(A) of the earth, holding back the four winds(B) of the earth to prevent(C) any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal(D) of the living God.(E) He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:(F) 3 “Do not harm(G) the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads(H) of the servants of our God.”

7 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
