Het Lam kwam naar voren en nam de boekrol aan uit de rechterhand van Hem die op de troon zat. Toen Hij dat deed, vielen de vier levende wezens en de vierentwintig ouderlingen voor Hem neer. Zij hadden allemaal een harp en een gouden schaal vol heerlijk reukwerk: dat zijn de gebeden van de gelovigen. En zij zongen een nieuw lied: ‘U bent het waard om de boekrol in ontvangst te nemen en de zegels te verbreken, want U bent geslacht en hebt met uw bloed mensen voor God vrijgekocht uit alle rassen, volken, stammen en taalgroepen.

He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.(A) And when he had taken it, the four living creatures(B) and the twenty-four elders(C) fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp(D) and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers(E) of God’s people. And they sang a new song, saying:(F)

“You are worthy(G) to take the scroll
    and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
    and with your blood(H) you purchased(I) for God
    persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.(J)

And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

Worthy Is the Lamb
