Endagaano Enkadde nʼEndagaano Empya
9 (A)Yakobo bwe yava mu Padanalaamu Katonda n’amulabikira, n’amuwa omukisa. 10 (B)Katonda n’amugamba nti, “Erinnya lyo ggwe Yakobo; tokyaddayo kuyitibwa Yakobo, erinnya lyo linaabanga Isirayiri.” Bwe kityo erinnya lye ne liba Isirayiri. 11 (C)Katonda n’amugamba nti, “Ndi Katonda Ayinzabyonna: zaala oyale, eggwanga n’enkuyanja y’amawanga biriva mu ggwe, ne bakabaka balisibuka mu ggwe. 12 (D)Ensi gye nawa Ibulayimu ne Isaaka, ndigikuwa ggwe, era ndigiwa n’ezzadde lyo eririddawo.”

9 After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram,[a](A) God appeared to him again and blessed him.(B) 10 God said to him, “Your name is Jacob,[b] but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.[c]”(C) So he named him Israel.
11 And God said to him, “I am God Almighty[d];(D) be fruitful and increase in number.(E) A nation(F) and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.(G) 12 The land I gave to Abraham and Isaac I also give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you.(H)”(I)
