Die fünfte Posaune

Da stieß der fünfte Engel in seine Posaune. Ich sah einen Stern, der vom Himmel auf die Erde gefallen war. Diesem Stern wurde der Schlüssel zu dem Schacht gegeben, der in den Abgrund hinabführt. Er öffnete den Schacht, und heraus quoll beißender Rauch wie aus einem riesigen Schmelzofen. Die Luft war vom Qualm so erfüllt, dass man die Sonne nicht mehr sehen konnte.

Aus dem Rauch kamen Heuschrecken hervor und überfielen die Erde. Sie erhielten die Macht, wie Skorpione zu stechen. Doch sie durften weder dem Gras noch den Bäumen oder irgendeiner Pflanze auf der Erde Schaden zufügen. Sie sollten nur die Menschen quälen, die nicht das Siegel Gottes auf ihrer Stirn trugen. Es wurde ihnen nicht erlaubt, die Menschen zu töten, aber sie durften ihnen fünf Monate lang qualvolle Schmerzen zufügen, wie sie der Stich eines Skorpions hervorruft. In dieser Zeit werden sich die Menschen verzweifelt den Tod wünschen, aber er wird sie nicht erlösen. Sie wollen nur noch sterben, aber der Tod wird vor ihnen fliehen.

Die Heuschrecken sahen aus wie Schlachtrosse, die in den Kampf ziehen. Auf ihren Köpfen glänzte es, als würden sie goldene Kronen tragen, und ihre Gesichter hatten menschliche Züge. Sie hatten eine Mähne wie Frauenhaar und Zähne wie Löwen. Brustschilde hatten sie wie Eisenpanzer, und ihre Flügelschläge dröhnten wie Streitwagen, die mit vielen Pferden bespannt in die Schlacht ziehen. 10 Sie hatten Schwänze und Stacheln wie Skorpione. Mit ihrem Gift konnten sie die Menschen fünf Monate lang quälen. 11 Als König herrschte über sie der Engel aus dem Abgrund. Auf Hebräisch heißt er Abaddon, auf Griechisch Apollyon. Das bedeutet »Zerstörer«.

12 Aber das ist noch nicht alles. Diesem ersten Unheil werden noch zwei weitere folgen.

Die sechste Posaune

13 Jetzt blies der sechste Engel seine Posaune. Ich hörte eine Stimme von allen vier Ecken[a] des goldenen Altars, der vor dem Thron Gottes steht. 14 Diese Stimme forderte den sechsten Engel auf: »Befrei die vier Engel, die am Euphrat, dem großen Strom, gefangen sind!« 15 Und die vier Engel wurden befreit. Auf dieses Jahr, diesen Monat, diesen Tag, ja, genau auf diese Stunde waren sie bereitgehalten worden, um ein Drittel der Menschheit zu töten. 16 Sie führten ein riesiges Heer mit zweihundert Millionen Reitern. Das ist die Zahl, die mir gesagt wurde.

17 Und dann sah ich sie in dieser Vision: Die Pferde trugen ebenso wie ihre Reiter feuerrot, dunkelblau und schwefelgelb glänzende Rüstungen. Mächtig wie Löwenköpfe waren die Köpfe der Pferde. Feuer, Rauch und brennender Schwefel schossen aus ihren Mäulern. 18 Mit diesen drei Waffen töteten sie ein Drittel der Menschheit. 19 Aber nicht nur aus ihren Mäulern kamen Tod und Zerstörung, auch mit ihren Schwänzen konnten sie die Menschen umbringen. Denn ihre Schwänze sahen aus wie Schlangen und hatten Köpfe, mit denen sie den Menschen Schaden zufügten.

20 Doch trotz all dieser entsetzlichen Katastrophen dachten die Überlebenden nicht daran, sich zu ändern und zu Gott umzukehren. Nach wie vor beteten sie die Dämonen an und ihre selbst gemachten Götzen aus Gold, Silber, Bronze, Stein oder Holz, die weder hören noch sehen noch laufen können. 21 Ja, die Menschen kehrten nicht um. Sie hörten nicht auf, einander umzubringen, Zauberei zu treiben, sexuell unmoralisch zu leben und einander zu bestehlen.

12 第一樣災禍過去了;看哪,還有兩樣災禍要來。

13 第六位天使吹號,我聽見有聲音從 神面前金壇的四[a]角發出來, 14 吩咐那吹號的第六位天使,說:「把那捆綁在幼發拉底大河的四個使者釋放了。」 15 那四個使者就被釋放;他們原是預備好,在特定的年、月、日、時,要殺人類的三分之一。 16 騎兵有二億;他們的數目我聽見了。 17 我在異象中看見那些馬和騎馬的:騎馬的穿着火紅、紫瑪瑙及硫磺色的胸甲;馬的頭好像獅子的頭,有火、有煙、有硫磺從馬的口中噴出來。 18 從馬的口中所噴出來的火、煙和硫磺這三樣災害殺了人類的三分之一。 19 馬的能力在於牠們的口和尾巴;牠們的尾巴像蛇,有頭,用頭來傷害人。

20 其餘未曾被這些災難所殺的人仍舊不為自己手所做的悔改,還是去拜鬼魔和那些不能看、不能聽、不能走,用金、銀、銅、木、石所造的偶像。 21 他們也不為自己所犯的那些兇殺、邪術、淫亂、偷竊的事悔改。
