¹⁴ therefore, behold, ^(A)I will again
    do wonderful things with this people,
    with wonder upon wonder;
and ^(B)the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
    and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”

¹² He ^(A)frustrates the devices of the crafty,
    so that their hands achieve no success.
¹³ He ^(B)catches the wise in their own craftiness,
    and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end.
¹⁴ They meet with darkness in the daytime
    and ^(C)grope at noonday as in the night.

¹³ The princes of ^(A)Zoan have become fools,
    and the princes of ^(B)Memphis are deluded;
those who are the ^(C)cornerstones of her tribes
    have made Egypt stagger.
¹⁴ The Lord has mingled within her ^(D)a spirit of confusion,
and they will make Egypt stagger in all its deeds,
    ^(E)as a drunken man staggers in his vomit.

³ and the spirit of the Egyptians within them will be emptied out,
    and I will confound^[a] their ^(A)counsel;
and they will inquire of the idols and the sorcerers,
    and ^(B)the mediums and the necromancers;
