La Pasqua celebrata nel deserto del Sinai
9 (A)Il Signore disse ancora a Mosè, nel deserto del Sinai, il primo mese del secondo anno da quando furono usciti dal paese d’Egitto: 2 «I figli d’Israele celebreranno la Pasqua alla data stabilita. 3 La celebrerete nel tempo stabilito, il quattordicesimo giorno di questo mese, all’imbrunire; la celebrerete secondo tutte le leggi e le prescrizioni che vi si riferiscono».
4 Allora Mosè parlò ai figli d’Israele perché celebrassero la Pasqua. 5 Ed essi celebrarono la Pasqua il quattordicesimo giorno del primo mese, all’imbrunire, nel deserto del Sinai; i figli d’Israele si conformarono a tutti gli ordini che il Signore aveva dato a Mosè.
6 Or vi erano degli uomini che, essendo impuri per aver toccato un morto, non potevano celebrare la Pasqua in quel giorno. Essi si presentarono in quello stesso giorno davanti a Mosè e davanti ad Aaronne, 7 e dissero a Mosè: «Noi siamo impuri perché abbiamo toccato un morto; perché ci sarebbe impedito di presentare l’offerta del Signore, al tempo stabilito, insieme con i figli d’Israele?» 8 Mosè rispose loro: «Aspettate, e sentirò quello che il Signore ordinerà a vostro riguardo».
9 Il Signore disse a Mosè: 10 «Parla ai figli d’Israele e di’ loro: “Se uno di voi o dei vostri discendenti sarà impuro per il contatto con un morto o sarà in viaggio, celebrerà lo stesso la Pasqua in onore del Signore. 11 La celebreranno il quattordicesimo giorno del secondo mese, all’imbrunire; mangeranno la vittima con pane azzimo e con erbe amare; 12 non ne lasceranno nulla di avanzo fino al mattino e non ne spezzeranno nessun osso. La celebreranno secondo tutte le leggi della Pasqua.
13 Ma colui che è puro e che non è in viaggio, se si astiene dal celebrare la Pasqua, quel tale sarà tolto via dalla sua gente; siccome non ha presentato l’offerta al Signore nel tempo stabilito, quel tale porterà la pena del suo peccato. 14 Se uno straniero che soggiorna tra di voi celebrerà la Pasqua del Signore, si conformerà alle leggi e alle prescrizioni della Pasqua. Avrete un’unica legge, per lo straniero e per il nativo del paese”».
La nuvola
15 (B)Il giorno in cui il tabernacolo fu eretto, la nuvola coprì il tabernacolo, cioè la tenda della testimonianza; e, dalla sera fino alla mattina, appariva sul tabernacolo come un fuoco. 16 Avveniva sempre così: la nuvola copriva il tabernacolo e, di notte, appariva come un fuoco. 17 E tutte le volte che la nuvola si alzava dalla tenda, i figli d’Israele si mettevano in cammino e si accampavano dove si fermava la nuvola. 18 I figli d’Israele si mettevano in cammino all’ordine del Signore e si accampavano all’ordine del Signore. Rimanevano accampati tutto il tempo che la nuvola restava ferma sul tabernacolo. 19 Quando la nuvola rimaneva per molti giorni sul tabernacolo, i figli d’Israele osservavano la prescrizione del Signore e non si muovevano. 20 Se avveniva che la nuvola rimanesse pochi giorni sul tabernacolo, all’ordine del Signore rimanevano accampati e all’ordine del Signore si mettevano in cammino. 21 Se la nuvola si fermava dalla sera alla mattina e si alzava la mattina, si mettevano in cammino; o se dopo un giorno e una notte la nuvola si alzava, si mettevano in cammino. 22 Se la nuvola rimaneva ferma sul tabernacolo due giorni o un mese o un anno, i figli d’Israele rimanevano accampati e non si muovevano; ma, quando si alzava, si mettevano in cammino. 23 All’ordine del Signore si accampavano e all’ordine del Signore si mettevano in cammino; osservavano la prescrizione del Signore, secondo l’ordine trasmesso dal Signore per mezzo di Mosè.

The Second Passover(A)
9 Now the Lord spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying: 2 “Let the children of Israel keep (B)the Passover at its appointed (C)time. 3 On the fourteenth day of this month, [a]at twilight, you shall [b]keep it at its appointed time. According to all its [c]rites and ceremonies you shall keep it.” 4 So Moses told the children of Israel that they should keep the Passover. 5 And (D)they kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month, at twilight, in the Wilderness of Sinai; according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did.
6 Now there were certain men who were (E)defiled by a human corpse, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day; (F)and they came before Moses and Aaron that day. 7 And those men said to him, “We became defiled by a human corpse. Why are we kept from presenting the offering of the Lord at its appointed time among the children of Israel?”
8 And Moses said to them, “Stand still, that (G)I may hear what the Lord will command concerning you.”
9 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘If anyone of you or your [d]posterity is unclean because of a corpse, or is far away on a journey, he may still keep the Lord’s Passover. 11 On (H)the fourteenth day of the second month, at twilight, they may keep it. They shall (I)eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 12 (J)They shall leave none of it until morning, (K)nor break one of its bones. (L)According to all the [e]ordinances of the Passover they shall keep it. 13 But the man who is clean and is not on a journey, and ceases to keep the Passover, that same person (M)shall be cut off from among his people, because he (N)did not bring the offering of the Lord at its appointed time; that man shall (O)bear his sin.
14 ‘And if a stranger [f]dwells among you, and would keep the Lord’s Passover, he must do so according to the rite of the Passover and according to its ceremony; (P)you shall have one [g]ordinance, both for the stranger and the native of the land.’ ”
The Cloud and the Fire(Q)
15 Now (R)on the day that the tabernacle was raised up, the cloud (S)covered the tabernacle, the tent of the Testimony; (T)from evening until morning it was above the tabernacle like the appearance of fire. 16 So it was always: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. 17 Whenever the cloud (U)was [h]taken up from above the tabernacle, after that the children of Israel would journey; and in the place where the cloud settled, there the children of Israel would pitch their tents. 18 At the [i]command of the Lord the children of Israel would journey, and at the command of the Lord they would camp; (V)as long as the cloud stayed above the tabernacle they remained encamped. 19 Even when the cloud continued long, many days above the tabernacle, the children of Israel (W)kept the charge of the Lord and did not journey. 20 So it was, when the cloud was above the tabernacle a few days: according to the command of the Lord they would remain encamped, and according to the command of the Lord they would journey. 21 So it was, when the cloud remained only from evening until morning: when the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they would journey; whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud was taken up, they would journey. 22 Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel (X)would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up, they would journey. 23 At the command of the Lord they remained encamped, and at the command of the Lord they journeyed; they (Y)kept the charge of the Lord, at the command of the Lord by the hand of Moses.

Das erste Passahfest in der Wüste
9 Im 1. Monat des 2. Jahres nachdem die Israeliten Ägypten verlassen hatten, sprach der Herr in der Wüste Sinai zu Mose:
2 »Ihr sollt das Passahfest zur vorgeschriebenen Zeit feiern: 3 am Abend des 14. Tages in diesem Monat. Haltet euch an alle Bestimmungen und Vorschriften für das Fest!« 4 Mose teilte es den Israeliten mit. 5 So feierten sie am Abend des 14. Tages im 1. Monat das Passahfest in der Wüste Sinai. Sie befolgten dabei alle Anweisungen des Herrn.
6 Einige Männer aber hatten zuvor eine Leiche berührt. Dadurch waren sie am Tag des Passahfestes unrein und konnten nicht mitfeiern. Sie fragten daher Mose und Aaron um Rat: 7 »Wir haben einen Toten berührt und sind dadurch unrein geworden. Sollen wir deshalb etwa vom Fest ausgeschlossen werden? Wir würden auch gerne dabei sein und wie alle anderen Israeliten dem Herrn unsere Opfer darbringen!« 8 Mose antwortete: »Wartet hier! Ich will hören, was der Herr dazu sagt.«
9 Der Herr sprach zu Mose: 10 »Was ich dir jetzt sage, soll für immer gelten: Wer sich durch die Berührung eines Toten verunreinigt hat oder auf einer weiten Reise ist und deshalb nicht am Fest teilnehmen kann, 11 der soll es genau einen Monat später nachholen. Dann soll er das Passahlamm wie sonst auch mit bitteren Kräutern essen und mit Brot, das ohne Sauerteig gebacken ist. 12 Er darf nichts davon bis zum nächsten Morgen übrig lassen und dem Lamm keinen Knochen brechen. Er muss alle Bestimmungen und Vorschriften für das Passahfest genau befolgen. 13 Aber wenn jemand das Fest im 1. Monat nicht feiert, obwohl er rein ist und sich auch nicht auf Reisen befindet, hat er sein Leben verwirkt. Er darf nicht länger zur Gemeinschaft eures Volkes gehören. Er hat mir, dem Herrn, sein Opfer nicht zur festgelegten Zeit dargebracht und muss die Folgen dieser Sünde tragen. 14 Wenn ein Ausländer, der sich eurem Volk angeschlossen hat, zu meiner Ehre das Passahfest feiern will, muss auch er dabei alle Vorschriften beachten. Für Einheimische und Ausländer soll dasselbe Recht gelten!«
Der Herr führt sein Volk
15 Als man das heilige Zelt aufgestellt hatte, in dem die Gesetzestafeln aufbewahrt wurden, kam die Wolke des Herrn und bedeckte es. In der folgenden Nacht leuchtete sie wie Feuer. 16 Sie blieb von nun an über dem Heiligtum. Am Tag glich sie einer Wolke und nachts einem Feuer. 17 Wenn sie aufstieg, brachen die Israeliten auf und folgten ihr. Und wo sie sich niederließ, schlugen sie ihr Lager wieder auf. 18 Durch die Wolke gab ihnen der Herr das Zeichen zum Weiterziehen oder Haltmachen. Solange die Wolke auf dem Heiligtum ruhte, ließen die Israeliten ihre Zelte stehen. 19 Das dauerte manchmal sehr lange. Auch dann hielten sie sich an die Weisung des Herrn und brachen nicht auf. 20 Es kam auch vor, dass sie nur wenige Tage an einem Ort blieben, ganz wie der Herr es befahl. 21 Manchmal ließ die Wolke sich am Abend nieder und stieg schon am nächsten Morgen wieder auf. Dann zogen die Israeliten sofort los. Die Wolke konnte einen Tag und eine Nacht bleiben, 22 aber auch zwei Tage, einen Monat oder noch länger. Immer wenn die Wolke auf dem heiligen Zelt ruhte, schlugen die Israeliten ihre Zelte auf und blieben so lange, bis die Wolke sich wieder erhob. 23 Sie folgten bei ihrem Zug durch die Wüste den Weisungen des Herrn und taten, was er ihnen durch Mose sagte.

The Passover
9 The Lord spoke to Moses in the Desert of Sinai in the first month(A) of the second year after they came out of Egypt.(B) He said, 2 “Have the Israelites celebrate the Passover(C) at the appointed time.(D) 3 Celebrate it at the appointed time, at twilight on the fourteenth day of this month,(E) in accordance with all its rules and regulations.(F)”
4 So Moses told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover,(G) 5 and they did so in the Desert of Sinai(H) at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.(I) The Israelites did everything just as the Lord commanded Moses.(J)
6 But some of them could not celebrate the Passover on that day because they were ceremonially unclean(K) on account of a dead body.(L) So they came to Moses and Aaron(M) that same day 7 and said to Moses, “We have become unclean because of a dead body, but why should we be kept from presenting the Lord’s offering with the other Israelites at the appointed time?(N)”
8 Moses answered them, “Wait until I find out what the Lord commands concerning you.”(O)
9 Then the Lord said to Moses, 10 “Tell the Israelites: ‘When any of you or your descendants are unclean because of a dead body(P) or are away on a journey, they are still to celebrate(Q) the Lord’s Passover, 11 but they are to do it on the fourteenth day of the second month(R) at twilight. They are to eat the lamb, together with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.(S) 12 They must not leave any of it till morning(T) or break any of its bones.(U) When they celebrate the Passover, they must follow all the regulations.(V) 13 But if anyone who is ceremonially clean and not on a journey fails to celebrate the Passover, they must be cut off from their people(W) for not presenting the Lord’s offering at the appointed time. They will bear the consequences of their sin.
14 “‘A foreigner(X) residing among you is also to celebrate the Lord’s Passover in accordance with its rules and regulations. You must have the same regulations for both the foreigner and the native-born.’”
The Cloud Above the Tabernacle
15 On the day the tabernacle, the tent of the covenant law,(Y) was set up,(Z) the cloud(AA) covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire.(AB) 16 That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.(AC) 17 Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out;(AD) wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.(AE) 18 At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained(AF) in camp. 19 When the cloud remained over the tabernacle a long time, the Israelites obeyed the Lord’s order(AG) and did not set out.(AH) 20 Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle only a few days; at the Lord’s command they would encamp, and then at his command they would set out. 21 Sometimes the cloud stayed only from evening till morning, and when it lifted in the morning, they set out. Whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud lifted, they set out. 22 Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out. 23 At the Lord’s command they encamped, and at the Lord’s command they set out. They obeyed the Lord’s order, in accordance with his command through Moses.

5 And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.
6 And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:
7 And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the Lord in his appointed season among the children of Israel?
8 And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the Lord will command concerning you.
9 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
10 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the Lord.
11 The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
12 They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.
13 But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the Lord in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
14 And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover unto the Lord; according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.
15 And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely, the tent of the testimony: and at even there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until the morning.
16 So it was alway: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night.
17 And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed: and in the place where the cloud abode, there the children of Israel pitched their tents.
18 At the commandment of the Lord the children of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of the Lord they pitched: as long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they rested in their tents.
19 And when the cloud tarried long upon the tabernacle many days, then the children of Israel kept the charge of the Lord, and journeyed not.
20 And so it was, when the cloud was a few days upon the tabernacle; according to the commandment of the Lord they abode in their tents, and according to the commandment of the Lord they journeyed.
21 And so it was, when the cloud abode from even unto the morning, and that the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they journeyed: whether it was by day or by night that the cloud was taken up, they journeyed.
22 Or whether it were two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed.
23 At the commandment of the Lord they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the Lord they journeyed: they kept the charge of the Lord, at the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
