Second Month Passover
9 Adonai spoke to Moses in the Sinai wilderness in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt saying, 2 “Bnei-Yisrael is to observe Passover at its appointed time. 3 You are to celebrate it at its appointed time, at twilight on the fourteenth day of this month, with all its rules and regulations.”
4 So Moses told Bnei-Yisrael to observe Passover. 5 They celebrated Passover at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month in the Sinai wilderness. In accordance with all that Adonai commanded Moses, so Bnei-Yisrael did.[a]
6 However, there were some men who could not celebrate Passover because of being defiled by a dead body. So they came to Moses and Aaron on that same day, 7 and these men said to him, “We have become unclean because of a dead man’s body. Why should we be kept from presenting the offering of Adonai at the appointed time with the rest of Bnei-Yisrael?” 8 Moses answered them, “Wait, and I will inquire what Adonai commands concerning you.”
9 Then Adonai spoke to Moses saying, 10 “Say to Bnei-Yisrael saying: If any man, whether you or your descendants, becomes unclean because of a dead body, or is away on a long journey, he may yet observe Adonai’s Passover. 11 They are to celebrate it at twilight on the fourteenth day of the second month. With matzot and bitter herbs they are to eat it. 12 They are not to leave any of it until morning, or break any bones. When they celebrate Passover they are to observe all its regulations.
13 “But the person who is clean and not away on a journey, yet neglects to celebrate Passover, that soul shall be cut off from his people because that person did not present Adonai’s offering at the appointed time. That man will bear his sin.
14 “If an outsider living among you would celebrate Passover to Adonai according to the requirement, so he should do. There will be for you the same regulation for the outsider and the native of the land.’”
The Cloud as the Guide
15 On the day the Tabernacle was erected, the cloud covered the Tabernacle. By evening until morning, the cloud above the Tent of Testimony had an appearance like fire. 16 It was that way continually. The cloud covered it, and by night it appeared like fire. 17 Whenever the cloud lifted up from above the Tent, then Bnei-Yisrael would set out, and at the place where the cloud settled, there Bnei-Yisrael would encamp. 18 At the mouth of Adonai, Bnei-Yisrael would set out, and at the mouth of Adonai they would encamp. All the days that the cloud remained over the Tabernacle, they would remain in camp.
19 When the cloud would remain over the Tabernacle many days, Bnei-Yisrael would obey the command of Adonai and not set out. 20 At times the cloud stayed over the Tabernacle only a few days. At Adonai’s word they would encamp, and at Adonai’s word they would set out.
21 At times the cloud remained only from evening until morning. When the cloud would lift, they would set out. Whether by day or by night, when the cloud lifted, they would set out. 22 Whether for two days or a month or a year, while the cloud remained over the Tabernacle, Bnei-Yisrael remained camped and would not set out. But when it would lift, they would set out. 23 At Adonai’s word they would encamp, and at the mouth of Adonai they set out. They obeyed Adonai’s order by Moses’s hand.

The Passover Celebrated
9 And the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, (A)in the first month of the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying, 2 “Let the people of Israel keep the Passover at its appointed time. 3 (B)On the fourteenth day of this month, at twilight, you shall keep it at its appointed time; according to all its statutes and all its rules you shall keep it.” 4 So Moses told the people of Israel that they should keep the Passover. 5 And they kept the Passover in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, at twilight, in the wilderness of Sinai; according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so the people of Israel did. 6 And there were certain men who were (C)unclean through touching a dead body, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day, and (D)they came before Moses and Aaron on that day. 7 And those men said to him, “We are unclean through touching a dead body. Why are we kept from bringing the Lord's (E)offering at its appointed time among the people of Israel?” 8 And Moses said to them, “Wait, that (F)I may hear what the Lord will command concerning you.”
9 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 10 “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, If any one of you or of your descendants is unclean through touching a dead body, or is on a long journey, he shall still keep the Passover to the Lord. 11 (G)In the second month on the fourteenth day at twilight they shall keep it. (H)They shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 12 (I)They shall leave none of it until the morning, (J)nor break any of its bones; (K)according to all the statute for the Passover they shall keep it. 13 But if anyone who is clean and is not on a journey fails to keep the Passover, (L)that person shall be cut off from his people because he did not bring the Lord's (M)offering at its appointed time; that man shall bear his sin. 14 And if a stranger sojourns among you and would keep the Passover to the Lord, according to the statute of the Passover and according to its rule, so shall he do. (N)You shall have one statute, both for the sojourner and for the native.”
The Cloud Covering the Tabernacle
15 (O)On the day that the tabernacle was set up, the cloud covered the tabernacle, the tent of the testimony. And (P)at evening it was over the tabernacle like the appearance of fire until morning. 16 So it was always: the cloud covered it by day[a] and the appearance of fire by night. 17 And whenever the cloud (Q)lifted from over the tent, after that the people of Israel set out, and in the place where the cloud settled down, there the people of Israel camped. 18 At the command of the Lord the people of Israel set out, and at the command of the Lord they camped. (R)As long as the cloud rested over the tabernacle, they remained in camp. 19 Even when the cloud continued over the tabernacle many days, the people of Israel (S)kept the charge of the Lord and did not set out. 20 Sometimes the cloud was a few days over the tabernacle, and according to the command of the Lord they remained in camp; then according to the command of the Lord they set out. 21 And sometimes the cloud remained from evening until morning. And when the cloud lifted in the morning, they set out, or if it continued for a day and a night, when the cloud lifted they set out. 22 Whether it was two days, or a month, or a longer time, that the cloud continued over the tabernacle, abiding there, the people of Israel (T)remained in camp and did not set out, but when it lifted they set out. 23 At the command of the Lord they camped, and at the command of the Lord they set out. (U)They kept the charge of the Lord, at the command of the Lord by Moses.

9 No primeiro mês[a] do segundo ano desde a saída de Israel do Egito, o Senhor falou com Moisés no deserto do Sinai e disse: 2 “Instrua os israelitas a celebrarem a Páscoa no tempo determinado, 3 ao entardecer do décimo quarto dia do primeiro mês.[b] Siga todos os meus decretos e estatutos a respeito dessa celebração”.
4 Então Moisés instruiu o povo a celebrar a Páscoa 5 no deserto do Sinai, ao entardecer do décimo quarto dia do primeiro mês. Eles celebraram a festa ali, conforme o Senhor havia ordenado a Moisés. 6 Alguns dos homens, porém, estavam cerimonialmente impuros por terem tocado num cadáver, e não puderam celebrar a Páscoa naquele dia. Eles se dirigiram a Moisés e Arão no mesmo dia 7 e disseram: “Ficamos cerimonialmente impuros, pois tocamos num cadáver. Mas por que estamos impedidos de apresentar a oferta do Senhor no devido tempo como os demais israelitas?”.
8 Moisés respondeu: “Esperem aqui até eu receber instruções do Senhor para vocês”.
9 Então o Senhor disse a Moisés: 10 “Dê as seguintes instruções ao povo de Israel. Se alguém do povo, agora ou nas gerações futuras, estiver cerimonialmente impuro no tempo da Páscoa por haver tocado num cadáver, ou se estiver viajando e não puder comparecer à cerimônia, ainda assim celebrará a Páscoa do Senhor. 11 Oferecerá um sacrifício de Páscoa um mês depois, ao entardecer do décimo quarto dia do segundo mês.[c] Nessa ocasião, comerá o cordeiro de Páscoa, acompanhado de folhas verdes amargas e pão sem fermento. 12 Não deixará sobrar coisa alguma do cordeiro até a manhã seguinte, e não quebrará osso algum do animal. Seguirá todos os decretos acerca da Páscoa.
13 “Aquele que estiver cerimonialmente puro e não estiver viajando, mas ainda assim não celebrar a Páscoa, será eliminado do meio do povo. Se não apresentar a oferta do Senhor no devido tempo, sofrerá as consequências de sua culpa. 14 E, se algum estrangeiro que vive entre vocês desejar celebrar a Páscoa do Senhor, deverá seguir os mesmos decretos. Esses decretos se aplicam tanto aos israelitas de nascimento como aos estrangeiros que vivem entre vocês”.
A nuvem de fogo
15 No dia em que foi armado o tabernáculo, a tenda da aliança,[d] a nuvem o cobriu. Desde o entardecer até o amanhecer, a nuvem sobre o tabernáculo parecia uma coluna de fogo. 16 Era assim que sempre acontecia: à noite, a nuvem que cobria o tabernáculo tinha a aparência de fogo. 17 Cada vez que a nuvem se elevava da tenda, o povo de Israel levantava acampamento e a seguia. No lugar onde a nuvem parava, eles acampavam. 18 Assim, viajavam e acampavam por ordem do Senhor, para onde ele os conduzia. Enquanto a nuvem estava sobre o tabernáculo, permaneciam acampados. 19 Se a nuvem ficava sobre o tabernáculo por muito tempo, os israelitas permaneciam ali e cumpriam suas obrigações para com o Senhor. 20 Às vezes a nuvem permanecia apenas alguns dias sobre o tabernáculo, de modo que o povo também ficava apenas alguns dias, conforme o Senhor ordenava. Então, por ordem do Senhor, levantavam acampamento e seguiam viagem. 21 Às vezes a nuvem parava apenas durante a noite e se elevava na manhã seguinte. Dia ou noite, porém, quando a nuvem se elevava, os israelitas levantavam acampamento e seguiam viagem. 22 Se a nuvem permanecia sobre o tabernáculo por dois dias, um mês ou um ano, ficavam acampados e não seguiam viagem. Mas, assim que a nuvem se elevava, levantavam acampamento e seguiam viagem. 23 Com isso, acampavam por ordem do Senhor e viajavam por ordem do Senhor, e cumpriam tudo que o Senhor lhes ordenava por meio de Moisés.
