Hoffnung für Alle
Wer unrein ist, muss das Lager verlassen
5 Der Herr sprach zu Mose: 2 »Befiehl den Israeliten, jeden aus dem Lager zu schicken, der aussätzig ist, eine Hautkrankheit hat oder an einem Ausfluss leidet. Es darf auch niemand dableiben, der einen Toten berührt hat und dadurch unrein geworden ist. 3 Ganz gleich, ob es Männer oder Frauen sind, sie sollen das Lager verlassen, damit es nicht verunreinigt wird. Denn ich selbst wohne hier mitten unter euch!« 4 Die Israeliten gehorchten dem Herrn und schickten alle aus dem Lager, die nicht rein waren.
Rückgabe von fremdem Eigentum
5 Der Herr sprach zu Mose: 6 »Ich gebe dir eine Anweisung, die für alle Israeliten gelten soll, ganz gleich ob Männer oder Frauen: Wer einen anderen Menschen auf irgendeine Weise betrügt, lehnt sich gegen mich, den Herrn, auf und macht sich schuldig. 7 Er soll sein Vergehen zugeben und alles zurückerstatten, was er dem anderen schuldet, ja sogar noch ein Fünftel des Wertes hinzufügen. 8 Wenn der Geschädigte aber inzwischen gestorben ist und keine Erben hat, die sein Eigentum an seiner Stelle zurücknehmen können, fällt es mir, dem Herrn, zu. Es soll den Priestern gehören, so wie der Schafbock, den der Priester für den Schuldigen opfern muss, damit ich seine Sünde vergebe. 9-10 Im Übrigen erhalten die Priester einen Anteil an allen Opfergaben, die von den Israeliten zum Heiligtum gebracht werden. Diese Anteile sollen allein den Priestern gehören.«
Bei Verdacht auf Ehebruch entscheidet Gott
11 Der Herr befahl Mose: 12 »Sag den Israeliten: Angenommen, eine verheiratete Frau gerät auf Abwege. Sie wird ihrem Mann untreu 13 und schläft mit einem anderen. Niemand hat sie bei ihrer Schuld ertappt: Ihr Mann hat sie nicht gesehen, und auch sonst gibt es keine Zeugen. 14 Aber der Mann hat eine böse Ahnung. Die Eifersucht packt ihn, weil er meint, dass seine Frau ihn betrogen hat. Doch weiß er es nicht sicher, sie könnte auch unschuldig sein.
15 In einem solchen Fall soll der Mann seine Frau zum Priester bringen. Er soll für sie eine Opfergabe von eineinhalb Kilogramm Gerstenmehl mitnehmen. Das Mehl darf nicht mit Öl übergossen oder mit Weihrauch bestreut werden, denn es dient als Eifersuchtsopfer, das den Verdacht vor Gott bringt und verborgene Schuld aufdeckt. 16 Der Priester führt die Frau ins Heiligtum und lässt sie in die Gegenwart des Herrn treten. 17 Er füllt geweihtes Wasser in ein Tongefäß und streut Erde vom Boden des Heiligtums hinein. 18 Dann löst er das Haar der Frau und legt das Eifersuchtsopfer in ihre Hände. Er selbst hält das Wasser, das Fluch und Qual bringt.
19 Dann stellt der Priester die Frau unter Eid und sagt: ›Wenn du deinem Mann nicht untreu warst und nicht mit einem anderen geschlafen hast, soll dir dieses Wasser des Fluches und der Qual nichts anhaben. 20 Aber wenn du die Ehe gebrochen und als verheiratete Frau mit einem anderen Mann geschlafen hast, 21-22 dann soll der Herr dich bestrafen! Dieses fluchbringende Wasser wird in deine Eingeweide eindringen. Es wird dich unfruchtbar machen[a] und deinen Bauch anschwellen lassen. Mit Schrecken und Abscheu werden die Leute auf dich zeigen!‹ So warnt der Priester die Frau vor der drohenden Strafe. Und die Frau soll antworten: ›Amen, so soll es sein!‹
23 Dann schreibt der Priester den Fluch auf ein Blatt und taucht es in das Wasser, bis die Schrift sich auflöst. 24 Dieses Wasser muss die Frau später trinken, damit es in ihren Körper gelangt und der Fluch sie trifft. 25 Vorher nimmt der Priester das Eifersuchtsopfer aus ihren Händen. Er schwingt es vor dem heiligen Zelt hin und her, um zu zeigen, dass es mir, dem Herrn, gehören soll; dann geht er damit zum Altar. 26 Hier lässt er eine Handvoll Mehl zu meinem Gedenken in Rauch aufgehen. Schließlich gibt er der Frau das Wasser zu trinken. 27 Wenn sie schuldig ist und ihrem Mann untreu war, wird sie schwer erkranken. Das Wasser wird sie unfruchtbar machen und ihren Unterleib aufblähen. Voller Schrecken und Abscheu werden die Leute sich von ihr fernhalten. 28 Hat die Frau aber keine Schuld auf sich geladen, dann wird das Fluchwasser ihr nicht schaden, und sie wird weiter Kinder bekommen können.
29-30 Dieses Gesetz gilt für den Fall, dass ein Mann seine Frau des Ehebruchs verdächtigt. Wenn ihn die Eifersucht packt und er glaubt, dass seine Frau sich schuldig gemacht hat und ihm untreu geworden ist, soll er sie zum Heiligtum bringen. Dann soll der Priester alles so ausführen, wie dieses Gesetz es vorschreibt. 31 Den Mann trifft in einem solchen Fall keine Schuld. Hat aber die Frau tatsächlich die Ehe gebrochen, muss sie die Folgen tragen.«

5 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “Command the children of Israel that they put out of the camp every (B)leper, everyone who has a (C)discharge, and whoever becomes (D)defiled [a]by a corpse. 3 You shall put out both male and female; you shall put them outside the camp, that they may not defile their camps (E)in the midst of which I dwell.” 4 And the children of Israel did so, and put them outside the camp; as the Lord spoke to Moses, so the children of Israel did.
Confession and Restitution(F)
5 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 6 “Speak to the children of Israel: (G)‘When a man or woman commits any sin that men commit in unfaithfulness against the Lord, and that person is guilty, 7 (H)then he shall confess the sin which he has committed. He shall make restitution for his trespass (I)in full, plus one-fifth of it, and give it to the one he has wronged. 8 But if the man has no [b]relative to whom restitution may be made for the wrong, the restitution for the wrong must go to the Lord for the priest, in addition to (J)the ram of the atonement with which atonement is made for him. 9 Every (K)offering[c] of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they bring to the priest, shall be (L)his. 10 And every man’s [d]holy things shall be his; whatever any man gives the priest shall be (M)his.’ ”
Concerning Unfaithful Wives
11 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘If any man’s wife goes astray and behaves unfaithfully toward him, 13 and a man (N)lies with her carnally, and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband, and it is concealed that she has defiled herself, and there was no witness against her, nor was she (O)caught— 14 if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him and he becomes (P)jealous of his wife, who has defiled herself; or if the spirit of jealousy comes upon him and he becomes jealous of his wife, although she has not defiled herself— 15 then the man shall bring his wife to the priest. He shall (Q)bring the offering required for her, one-tenth of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil on it and put no frankincense on it, because it is a grain offering of jealousy, an offering for remembering, for (R)bringing iniquity to remembrance.
16 ‘And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the Lord. 17 The priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel, and take some of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it into the water. 18 Then the priest shall stand the woman before the (S)Lord, uncover the woman’s head, and put the offering for remembering in her hands, which is the grain offering of jealousy. And the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that brings a curse. 19 And the priest shall put her under oath, and say to the woman, “If no man has lain with you, and if you have not gone astray to uncleanness while under your husband’s authority, be free from this bitter water that brings a curse. 20 But if you have gone astray while under your husband’s authority, and if you have defiled yourself and some man other than your husband has lain with you”— 21 then the priest shall (T)put the woman under the oath of the curse, and he shall say to the woman—(U)“the Lord make you a curse and an oath among your people, when the Lord makes your thigh [e]rot and your belly swell; 22 and may this water that causes the curse (V)go into your stomach, and make your belly swell and your thigh rot.”
‘(W)Then the woman shall say, “Amen, so be it.”
23 ‘Then the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall scrape them off into the bitter water. 24 And he shall make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and the water that brings the curse shall enter her to become bitter. 25 (X)Then the priest shall take the grain offering of jealousy from the woman’s hand, shall (Y)wave the offering before the Lord, and bring it to the altar; 26 and the priest shall take a handful of the offering, (Z)as its memorial portion, burn it on the altar, and afterward make the woman drink the water. 27 When he has made her drink the water, then it shall be, if she has defiled herself and behaved unfaithfully toward her husband, that the water that brings a (AA)curse will enter her and become bitter, and her belly will swell, her thigh will rot, and the woman (AB)will become a curse among her people. 28 But if the woman has not defiled herself, and is clean, then she shall be free and may conceive children.
29 ‘This is the law of jealousy, when a wife, while under her husband’s authority, (AC)goes astray and defiles herself, 30 or when the spirit of jealousy comes upon a man, and he becomes jealous of his wife; then he shall stand the woman before the Lord, and the priest shall execute all this law upon her. 31 Then the man shall be free from [f]iniquity, but that woman (AD)shall bear her [g]guilt.’ ”

5 Domnul a vorbit lui Moise şi a zis: 2 „Porunceşte copiilor lui Israel să izgonească din tabără pe orice lepros(A) şi pe oricine are o lepădare(B) de sămânţă sau este întinat prin atingerea de(C) un mort. 3 Fie bărbaţi, fie femei, să-i scoateţi din tabără; să-i scoateţi afară, ca să nu spurce tabăra în mijlocul(D) căreia Îmi am Eu locuinţa.” 4 Copiii lui Israel au făcut aşa şi i-au scos afară din tabără; cum poruncise lui Moise Domnul, aşa au făcut copiii lui Israel.
Despăgubirea pentru furt
5 Domnul a vorbit lui Moise şi a zis: 6 „Spune copiilor lui Israel: ‘Când(E) un bărbat sau o femeie va păcătui împotriva aproapelui său, făcând o călcare de lege faţă de Domnul, şi se va face astfel vinovat, 7 să-şi(F) mărturisească păcatul şi să dea înapoi în întregime(G) preţul lucrului câştigat prin mijloace necinstite, adăugând a cincea parte; să-l dea aceluia faţă de care s-a făcut vinovat. 8 Dacă nu este nimeni care să aibă drept să ia înapoi lucrul câştigat prin mijloace necinstite, lucrul acela să se întoarcă la Domnul, la preot, afară de berbecul(H) adus ca jertfă de ispăşire cu care se va face ispăşire pentru cel vinovat. 9 Orice dar(I) ridicat din lucrurile închinate Domnului de copiii lui Israel să fie al preotului, căruia îi sunt aduse. 10 Lucrurile închinate Domnului vor fi ale preotului: tot ce i se va da preotului al(J) lui să fie’.”
Apa de gelozie
11 Domnul a vorbit lui Moise şi a zis: 12 „Vorbeşte copiilor lui Israel şi spune-le: ‘Dacă păcătuieşte nevasta cuiva faţă de bărbatul ei şi-i este necredincioasă; 13 dacă altul se(K) culcă cu ea, şi lucrul este ascuns de bărbatul ei; dacă ea s-a pângărit în ascuns, fără să fie vreun martor împotriva ei şi fără să fie prinsă asupra faptului 14 şi dacă bărbatul este apucat de un duh de gelozie şi are bănuieli asupra nevestei lui, care s-a pângărit, sau dacă este cuprins de un duh de gelozie şi are bănuieli asupra nevestei lui, care nu s-a pângărit, 15 omul acela să-şi aducă nevasta la preot şi, ca dar de mâncare pentru ea, să aducă a zecea parte dintr-o efă de floare de făină de orz; să nu toarne untdelemn pe ea şi să nu pună tămâie pe ea, căci acesta este un dar de mâncare adus pentru gelozie, un dar de descoperire, care descoperă(L) o fărădelege. 16 Preotul s-o apropie şi s-o pună să stea în picioare înaintea Domnului. 17 Preotul să ia apă sfântă într-un vas de pământ, să ia ţărână de pe podeaua cortului şi s-o pună în apă. 18 Preotul să pună pe femeie să stea în picioare înaintea Domnului, să descopere capul femeii şi să-i pună în mâini darul de mâncare adus pentru descoperire, darul de mâncare adus pentru gelozie; preotul să aibă în mână apele amare aducătoare de blestem. 19 Preotul să pună pe femeie să jure şi să-i zică: «Dacă niciun om nu s-a culcat cu tine şi dacă, fiind sub puterea bărbatului tău, nu te-ai abătut de la el ca să te pângăreşti cu altul, să nu-ţi facă niciun rău aceste ape amare aducătoare de blestem! 20 Dar dacă, fiind sub puterea bărbatului tău, te-ai abătut de la el şi te-ai pângărit şi dacă un alt om decât bărbatul tău s-a culcat cu tine», 21 şi preotul(M) să pună pe femeie să jure cu un jurământ de blestem şi să-i zică: «Domnul să(N) te facă să ajungi de blestem şi de urgie în mijlocul poporului tău, făcând să ţi se usuce coapsa şi să ţi se umfle pântecele, 22 şi apele acestea aducătoare de blestem să intre(O) în măruntaiele tale, ca să facă să ţi se umfle pântecele şi să ţi se usuce coapsa!» Şi(P) femeia să zică: «Amin! Amin!» 23 Preotul să scrie blestemele acestea într-o carte, apoi să le şteargă cu apele cele amare. 24 Şi să dea femeii să bea apele amare aducătoare de blestem, şi apele aducătoare de blestem vor intra în ea şi-i vor pricinui amărăciunea. 25 Preotul să ia din mâinile femeii darul de mâncare adus pentru gelozie, să legene(Q) darul într-o parte şi într-alta înaintea Domnului şi să-l aducă pe altar. 26 Apoi(R) preotul să ia un pumn din darul acesta, ca aducere-aminte, şi să-l ardă pe altar. După aceea, să dea femeii să bea apele. 27 După ce îi va da să bea apele, dacă ea s-a pângărit şi a fost necredincioasă bărbatului ei, apele aducătoare de blestem vor intra în ea şi-i vor pricinui amărăciunea; pântecele i se va umfla, coapsa i se va usca, şi femeia aceasta va fi de blestem(S) în mijlocul poporului ei. 28 Dar, dacă femeia nu s-a pângărit şi este curată, va rămâne neatinsă şi va avea copii. 29 Aceasta este legea asupra geloziei, pentru împrejurarea când o femeie care este sub puterea bărbatului ei se abate(T) şi se pângăreşte 30 şi pentru împrejurarea când un bărbat, apucat de un duh de gelozie, are bănuieli asupra nevestei lui: preotul s-o pună să stea în picioare înaintea Domnului şi să-i facă întocmai după legea aceasta. 31 Bărbatul va fi scutit de vină, dar femeia aceea îşi va lua(U) pedeapsa nelegiuirii ei.’ ”
