Boundaries of the Land
34 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Command the people of Israel, and say to them, When you enter (A)the land of Canaan (B)(this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, the land of Canaan as defined by its borders), 3 (C)your south side shall be from the wilderness of Zin alongside Edom, and your southern border shall run from the end of (D)the Salt Sea on the east. 4 And your border shall turn south of (E)the ascent of Akrabbim, and cross to Zin, and its limit shall be south of Kadesh-barnea. Then it shall go on to (F)Hazar-addar, and pass along to Azmon. 5 And the border shall turn (G)from Azmon to (H)the Brook of Egypt, and its limit shall be at the sea.
6 “For the western border, you shall have the Great Sea and its[a] coast. This shall be your western border.
7 “This shall be your northern border: from the Great Sea you shall draw a line to (I)Mount Hor. 8 From Mount Hor you shall draw a line (J)to Lebo-hamath, and the limit of the border shall be at (K)Zedad. 9 Then the border shall extend to Ziphron, and its limit shall be at (L)Hazar-enan. This shall be your northern border.
10 “You shall draw a line for your eastern border from Hazar-enan to Shepham. 11 And the border shall go down from Shepham to (M)Riblah on the east side of Ain. And the border shall go down and reach to the shoulder of (N)the Sea of Chinnereth on the east. 12 And the border shall go down to the Jordan, and its limit shall be at (O)the Salt Sea. This shall be your land as defined by its borders all around.”
13 Moses commanded the people of Israel, saying, (P)“This is the land that you shall inherit by lot, which the Lord has commanded to give to the nine tribes and to the half-tribe. 14 (Q)For the tribe of the people of Reuben by fathers' houses and the tribe of the people of Gad by their fathers' houses have received their inheritance, and also the half-tribe of Manasseh. 15 The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan east of Jericho, toward the sunrise.”

16 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 17 “These are the names of the men who shall divide the land to you for inheritance: (R)Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun. 18 You shall take one (S)chief from every tribe to divide the land for inheritance. 19 These are the names of the men: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh. 20 Of the tribe of the people of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud. 21 Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon. 22 Of the tribe of the people of Dan a chief, Bukki the son of Jogli. 23 Of the people of Joseph: of the tribe of the people of Manasseh a chief, Hanniel the son of Ephod. 24 And of the tribe of the people of Ephraim a chief, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan. 25 Of the tribe of the people of Zebulun a chief, Elizaphan the son of Parnach. 26 Of the tribe of the people of Issachar a chief, Paltiel the son of Azzan. 27 And of the tribe of the people of Asher a chief, Ahihud the son of Shelomi. 28 Of the tribe of the people of Naphtali a chief, Pedahel the son of Ammihud.” 29 These are the men whom the Lord commanded to divide the inheritance for the people of Israel in the land of Canaan.

2 Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of Canaan; (this is the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan with the coasts thereof:)
3 Then your south quarter shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the coast of Edom, and your south border shall be the outmost coast of the salt sea eastward:
4 And your border shall turn from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass on to Zin: and the going forth thereof shall be from the south to Kadeshbarnea, and shall go on to Hazaraddar, and pass on to Azmon:
5 And the border shall fetch a compass from Azmon unto the river of Egypt, and the goings out of it shall be at the sea.
6 And as for the western border, ye shall even have the great sea for a border: this shall be your west border.
7 And this shall be your north border: from the great sea ye shall point out for you mount Hor:
8 From mount Hor ye shall point out your border unto the entrance of Hamath; and the goings forth of the border shall be to Zedad:
9 And the border shall go on to Ziphron, and the goings out of it shall be at Hazarenan: this shall be your north border.
10 And ye shall point out your east border from Hazarenan to Shepham:
11 And the coast shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall descend, and shall reach unto the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward:
12 And the border shall go down to Jordan, and the goings out of it shall be at the salt sea: this shall be your land with the coasts thereof round about.
13 And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which ye shall inherit by lot, which the Lord commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half tribe:
14 For the tribe of the children of Reuben according to the house of their fathers, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to the house of their fathers, have received their inheritance; and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance:
15 The two tribes and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side Jordan near Jericho eastward, toward the sunrising.

34 L'Eternel dit à Moïse: 2 «Donne l’ordre suivant aux Israélites: Quand vous serez entrés dans le pays de Canaan, ce pays deviendra votre héritage. C’est le pays de Canaan dont voici les limites.
3 »Le côté sud commencera au désert de Tsin près d'Edom. Ainsi, votre frontière sud partira de l'extrémité de la mer Morte, à l’est. 4 Elle tournera au sud de la montée d'Akrabbim, passera par Tsin et s'étendra jusqu'au sud de Kadès-Barnéa. Elle continuera par Hatsar-Addar et passera vers Atsmon. 5 Depuis Atsmon, elle tournera jusqu'au torrent d'Egypte pour aboutir à la mer.
6 »Votre frontière ouest sera la mer Méditerranée: ce sera votre frontière à l'ouest.
7 »Voici quelle sera votre frontière nord: à partir de la Méditerranée, vous la tracerez jusqu'au mont Hor; 8 depuis le mont Hor, vous la ferez passer par Hamath et arriver à Tsedad. 9 Elle continuera par Ziphron pour aboutir à Hatsar-Enan: ce sera votre frontière au nord.
10 »Vous tracerez votre frontière est de Hatsar-Enan à Shepham. 11 Elle descendra de Shepham vers Ribla, à l'est d'Aïn. Elle descendra et s'étendra le long du lac de Génésareth, à l'est. 12 Elle descendra encore vers le Jourdain pour aboutir à la mer Morte. Tel sera votre pays avec ses frontières tout autour.»
13 Moïse transmit cet ordre aux Israélites en ajoutant: «Voilà le pays que vous partagerez par tirage au sort et que l'Eternel a décidé de donner aux neuf tribus et demie. 14 En effet, la tribu des Rubénites et celle des Gadites ont reçu leur héritage en fonction de leur famille. La demi-tribu de Manassé a aussi reçu son héritage. 15 Ces deux tribus et demie ont reçu leur héritage de ce côté-ci du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho, du côté est.»
16 L'Eternel dit à Moïse: 17 «Voici le nom des hommes qui partageront le pays entre vous: le prêtre Eléazar et Josué, fils de Nun. 18 Vous prendrez aussi un prince de chaque tribu pour faire le partage du pays. 19 Voici le nom de ces hommes. Pour la tribu de Juda: Caleb, fils de Jephunné; 20 pour la tribu des Siméonites: Samuel, fils d'Ammihud; 21 pour la tribu de Benjamin: Elidad, fils de Kislon; 22 pour la tribu des Danites: le prince Buki, fils de Jogli; 23 pour les fils de Joseph, pour la tribu des Manassites: le prince Hanniel, fils d'Ephod, 24 et pour la tribu des Ephraïmites: le prince Kemuel, fils de Shiphtan; 25 pour la tribu des Zabulonites: le prince Elitsaphan, fils de Parnac; 26 pour la tribu des Issacarites: le prince Paltiel, fils d'Azzan; 27 pour la tribu des Asérites: le prince Ahihud, fils de Shelomi; 28 pour la tribu des Nephthalites: le prince Pedahel, fils d'Ammihud.»
29 Tels sont les hommes à qui l'Eternel ordonna de partager le pays de Canaan entre les Israélites.
