The Borders of Canaan
34 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Give this command to the ·people [L sons/T children] of Israel: ‘You will soon enter Canaan and ·it will be yours. These shall be the borders [L …this is the land that will fall to you as an inheritance, the land of Canaan according to its borders/boundaries]: 3 On the south you will get part of the ·Desert [Wilderness] of Zin near the border of Edom. On the east side your southern border will start at the south end of the ·Dead [L Salt] Sea, 4 cross south of ·Scorpion Pass [or the Ascent of Akrabbim], and go through the ·Desert [Wilderness] of Zin and south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon. 5 From Azmon it will go to the ·brook [wadi] of Egypt, and it will end at the ·Mediterranean Sea [L Sea].
6 “‘Your western border will be the ·Mediterranean [L Great] Sea.
7 “‘Your northern border will begin at the ·Mediterranean [L Great] Sea and ·go [L mark/draw a line] to Mount Hor. 8 From Mount Hor ·it will go [L mark/draw a line] to Lebo Hamath, and on to Zedad. 9 Then the border will go to Ziphron, and it will end at Hazar Enan. This will be your northern border.
10 “‘Your eastern border will begin at Hazar Enan and ·go [L mark/draw a line] to Shepham. 11 From Shepham the border will go ·east of [L down to] Ain to Riblah and ·along [L go down to] the hills east of ·Lake [T the Sea of] ·Galilee [L Kinnereth]. 12 Then the border will go down along the Jordan River and end at the ·Dead [L Salt] Sea.
“‘These are the borders around your country.’”
13 So Moses gave this command to the Israelites: “This is the land you will ·receive [L inherit]. Throw lots [C perhaps the Urim and Thummim; Ex. 28:30; Lev. 8:8] to divide it among the nine and one-half tribes, because the Lord commanded that it should be theirs. 14 The tribes of ·Reuben [L the sons/descendants of Reuben] by their families [clans], ·Gad [L the sons/descendants of Gad] by their families [clans], and ·East [L the half-tribe of] Manasseh have already ·received [L inherited] their land. 15 These two and one-half tribes received ·land [L their inheritance] east of the Jordan River, across from Jericho [32:1–42].”
16 Then the Lord said to Moses, 17 “These are the names of the men who will ·divide [apportion] the land for inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun. 18 Also take one leader from each tribe to help ·divide [apportion] the land for inheritance. 19 These are the names of the leaders: from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh; 20 from the tribe of ·Simeon [L the sons/descendants of Simeon], Shemuel son of Ammihud; 21 from the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad son of Kislon; 22 from the tribe of ·Dan [L the sons/descendants of Dan], Bukki son of Jogli; 23 from the tribe of ·Manasseh [L the sons/descendants of Manasseh] son of Joseph, Hanniel son of Ephod; 24 from the tribe of ·Ephraim [L the sons/descendants of Ephraim] son of Joseph, Kemuel son of Shiphtan; 25 from the tribe of ·Zebulun [L the sons/descendants of Zebulun], Elizaphan son of Parnach; 26 from the tribe of ·Issachar [L the sons/descendants of Issachar], Paltiel son of Azzan; 27 from the tribe of ·Asher [L the sons/descendants of Asher], Ahihud son of Shelomi; 28 from the tribe of ·Naphtali [L the sons/descendants of Naphtali], Pedahel son of Ammihud.”
29 The Lord commanded these men to ·divide [apportion] for inheritance the land of Canaan among the ·Israelites [L sons/T children of Israel].

Boundaries of Canaan
34 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Command the Israelites and say to them: ‘When you enter Canaan,(A) the land that will be allotted to you as an inheritance(B) is to have these boundaries:(C)
3 “‘Your southern side will include some of the Desert of Zin(D) along the border of Edom. Your southern boundary will start in the east from the southern end of the Dead Sea,(E) 4 cross south of Scorpion Pass,(F) continue on to Zin and go south of Kadesh Barnea.(G) Then it will go to Hazar Addar and over to Azmon,(H) 5 where it will turn, join the Wadi of Egypt(I) and end at the Mediterranean Sea.
6 “‘Your western boundary will be the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.(J) This will be your boundary on the west.(K)
7 “‘For your northern boundary,(L) run a line from the Mediterranean Sea to Mount Hor(M) 8 and from Mount Hor to Lebo Hamath.(N) Then the boundary will go to Zedad, 9 continue to Ziphron and end at Hazar Enan. This will be your boundary on the north.
10 “‘For your eastern boundary,(O) run a line from Hazar Enan to Shepham. 11 The boundary will go down from Shepham to Riblah(P) on the east side of Ain(Q) and continue along the slopes east of the Sea of Galilee.[a](R) 12 Then the boundary will go down along the Jordan and end at the Dead Sea.
“‘This will be your land, with its boundaries on every side.’”
13 Moses commanded the Israelites: “Assign this land by lot(S) as an inheritance.(T) The Lord has ordered that it be given to the nine and a half tribes, 14 because the families of the tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance.(U) 15 These two and a half tribes have received their inheritance east of the Jordan across from Jericho, toward the sunrise.”
16 The Lord said to Moses, 17 “These are the names of the men who are to assign the land for you as an inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua(V) son of Nun. 18 And appoint one leader from each tribe to help(W) assign the land.(X) 19 These are their names:(Y)
Caleb(Z) son of Jephunneh,
from the tribe of Judah;(AA)
20 Shemuel son of Ammihud,
from the tribe of Simeon;(AB)
21 Elidad son of Kislon,
from the tribe of Benjamin;(AC)
22 Bukki son of Jogli,
the leader from the tribe of Dan;
23 Hanniel son of Ephod,
the leader from the tribe of Manasseh(AD) son of Joseph;
24 Kemuel son of Shiphtan,
the leader from the tribe of Ephraim(AE) son of Joseph;
25 Elizaphan son of Parnak,
the leader from the tribe of Zebulun;(AF)
26 Paltiel son of Azzan,
the leader from the tribe of Issachar;
27 Ahihud son of Shelomi,
the leader from the tribe of Asher;(AG)
28 Pedahel son of Ammihud,
the leader from the tribe of Naphtali.”
29 These are the men the Lord commanded to assign the inheritance to the Israelites in the land of Canaan.(AH)

34 Herren talade till Mose. Han sade: 2 "Befall Israels barn och säg till dem: När ni kommer till Kanaans land, då är detta det land som skall tillfalla er som arvedel: Kanaans land, så långt dess gränser når.
3 I söder skall ert land sträcka sig från öknen Sin utmed Edom, och er södra gräns skall börja vid änden av Salthavet i öster. 4 Sedan skall er gräns vända sig söder om Skorpionhöjden och gå fram till Sin och gå ut söder om Kadesh-Barnea, och vidare till Hasar-Addar och fram till Asmon. 5 Från Asmon skall gränsen vända sig mot Egyptens bäck[a] och gå ut vid havet.[b]
6 Er gräns i väster skall vara Stora havet. Det skall vara er gräns i väster.
7 Och detta skall vara er gräns i norr: Från Stora havet skall ni dra er gränslinje till berget Hor. 8 Från berget Hor skall ni dra er gränslinje dit där vägen går till Hamat, och gränsen skall gå ut till Sedad. 9 Sedan skall gränsen gå till Sifron och sluta vid Hasar-Enan. Detta skall vara er gräns i norr.
10 Som er gräns i öster skall ni dra en linje från Hasar-Enan till Sefam. 11 Och från Sefam skall gränsen gå ner till Haribla, öster om Ajin, och vidare ner längs östra sluttningen av Kinneretsjön.[c] 12 Sedan skall gränsen gå ner till Jordan och ut vid Salthavet. Detta skall vara ert land med dess gränser runt omkring."
13 Och Mose gav Israels barn denna befallning: "Detta är det land som ni genom lottkastning skall utskifta som arvedel åt er. Herren har befallt att det skall ges åt de nio stammarna och den ena halva stammen. 14 Ty familjerna av Rubens stam och Gads stam och den andra hälften av Manasse stam har redan fått sin arvedel. 15 Dessa två stammar och denna halva stam har fått sin arvedel på andra sidan Jordan mitt emot Jeriko, österut mot solens uppgång."
Stamfurstarna som skulle utskifta landet
16 Herren talade till Mose. Han sade: 17 "Detta är namnen på de män som åt er skall utskifta landet i arvslotter: prästen Eleaser och Josua, Nuns son. 18 Och ni skall ta en furste ur varje stam för att utskifta landet i arvslotter. 19 Detta är männens namn:
Av Juda stam Kaleb, Jefunnes son;
20 av Simeons stam Samuel, Ammihuds son;
21 av Benjamins stam Elidad, Kislons son;
22 av Dans stam en furste, Bucki, Joglis son;
23 av Josefs barn: av Manasse stam en furste, Hanniel, Efods son;
24 och av Efraims stam en furste, Kemuel, Siftans son;
25 av Sebulons stam en furste, Elisafan, Parnaks son;
26 av Isaskars stam en furste, Paltiel, Assans son;
27 av Asers stam en furste, Ahihud, Selomis son;
28 av Naftali stam en furste, Pedael, Ammihuds son."
29 Dessa är de som Herren befallde att utskifta arvslotterna åt Israels barn i Kanaans land.
