2 So the heads of the Reuben and Gad tribes approached Moses, the priest Eleazar, and other of the community’s leaders.
Reubenites and Gadites: 3-5 This territory, which the Eternal One has already enabled us to dominate, is for livestock land; and we have livestock. If it is pleasing to you, may we settle here instead of crossing the Jordan into the promised land? We’d like this territory to be ours (Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon) rather than laying claim to any territory across the Jordan.

2 So they came to Moses and Eleazar the priest and to the leaders of the community,(A) and said, 3 “Ataroth,(B) Dibon,(C) Jazer,(D) Nimrah,(E) Heshbon,(F) Elealeh,(G) Sebam,(H) Nebo(I) and Beon(J)— 4 the land the Lord subdued(K) before the people of Israel—are suitable for livestock,(L) and your servants have livestock.

4 Even the country which the Lord smote before the congregation of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle:
