Numbers 32:13-15

¹³“The Lord was very angry with Israel. So he made them wander in the desert for 40 years. Finally all the people who had sinned against him had died. ¹⁴And now you are acting just like your fathers! You sinful people are making the Lord even more angry with Israel. ¹⁵If you quit following the Lord, it will add to their stay in the desert. So you will destroy all these people.”

New International Version

¹³The Lord’s anger burned against Israel^(A) and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the whole generation of those who had done evil in his sight was gone.^(B)

¹⁴“And here you are, a brood of sinners, standing in the place of your fathers and making the Lord even more angry with Israel.^(C) ¹⁵If you turn away from following him, he will again leave all this people in the wilderness, and you will be the cause of their destruction.^(D)”

¹³And the Lord's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them ^(A)wander in the wilderness forty years, until ^(B)all the generation that had done evil in the sight of the Lord was gone. ¹⁴And behold, you have risen in your fathers' place, a brood of sinful men, to increase still more the fierce anger of the Lord against Israel! ¹⁵For if you ^(C)turn away from following him, he will again abandon them in the wilderness, and you will destroy all this people.”
