Numbers 31:6-8

New International Version

⁶Moses sent them into battle,^(A) a thousand from each tribe, along with Phinehas^(B) son of Eleazar, the priest, who took with him articles from the sanctuary^(C) and the trumpets^(D) for signaling.

⁷They fought against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses,^(E) and killed every man.^(F) ⁸Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba^(G)—the five kings of Midian.^(H) They also killed Balaam son of Beor^(I) with the sword.^(J)

⁶And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand from each tribe, together with Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, with the vessels of the sanctuary and ^(A)the trumpets for the alarm in his hand. ⁷They warred against Midian, as the Lord commanded Moses, and ^(B)killed every male. ⁸They killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain, ^(C)Evi, Rekem, ^(D)Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. And they also killed ^(E)Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.
