Numbers 31:16-18

¹⁶Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord.

¹⁷Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who hath known a man by lying with him.

¹⁸But all the women children, who have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

¹⁶“They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice^(A) and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident,^(B) so that a plague^(C) struck the Lord’s people. ¹⁷Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man,^(D) ¹⁸but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
