16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord.
17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who hath known a man by lying with him.
18 But all the women children, who have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

16 “They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice(A) and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident,(B) so that a plague(C) struck the Lord’s people. 17 Now kill all the boys. And kill every woman who has slept with a man,(D) 18 but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.
