Oracle of Balaam
15 Then he took up his discourse and said,
“(A)The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor,
And the oracle of the man whose eye is uncovered,
16 The oracle of him who hears the [a]words of God,
And knows the knowledge of the [b]Most High,
Who beholds the vision of the [c]Almighty,
Falling down, yet having his eyes opened.
17 I see him, but not now;
I behold him, but not near;
A star shall come forth from Jacob,
(B)A scepter shall rise from Israel,
(C)And shall crush through the [d]forehead of Moab,
And [e]tear down all the sons of [f]Sheth.
18 (D)And Edom shall be a possession,
(E)Seir, its enemies, also will be a possession,
While Israel performs valiantly.
19 And one from Jacob shall have dominion,
And will make the survivor perish from the city.”

Balaam’s Fourth Oracle
15 So he uttered his oracle, saying,
“The oracle of Balaam son of Beor,
the oracle of the man whose eye is clear,[a]
16 the oracle of one who hears the words of God
and knows the knowledge of the Most High,[b]
who sees the vision of the Almighty,[c]
who falls down but with eyes uncovered:
17 I see him but not now;
I behold him but not near—
a star shall come out of Jacob,
and a scepter shall rise out of Israel;
it shall crush the foreheads[d] of Moab
and the heads[e] of all the Shethites.(A)
18 Edom will become a possession,
Seir a possession of its enemies,
while Israel does valiantly.(B)
19 One out of Jacob shall rule
and destroy the survivors of Ir.”(C)
