24 When Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, then he did not go, as certain times before, to set divinations. But set his face toward the wilderness.
2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes and looked upon Israel, which dwelt according to their tribe s. And the Spirit of God came upon him.
3 And he uttered his parable, and said, “Balaam, the son of Beor, has said, and the man whose eyes were shut up has said,
4 He who heard the words of God and who saw the vision of the Almighty and who fell and had his eyes opened, has said,
5 “How lovely are your tents, O Jacob, and your habitations, O Israel!
6 “As the valleys are they stretched forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the aloe trees which the LORD has planted, as the cedars beside the waters.
7 “The water drops out of His bucket, and His seed in many waters. And His King shall be higher than Agag. And His Kingdom shall be exalted.
8 “God brought him out of Egypt, his strength as a unicorn. He shall eat the nations, his enemies, and bruise their bones and shoot them through with his arrows.
9 “He crouches, lies down, as a young Lion, and as a Lion. Who shall stir him up? Blessed is he who blesses you, and cursed is he who curses you.”
10 Then Balak was very angry with Balaam and clapped his hands. So Balak said to Balaam, “I sent for you to curse my enemies. And behold, you have blessed them now three times.
11 “Therefore, now, flee to your place! I thought surely to promote you to honor. But lo, the LORD has kept you back from honor.”
12 Then Balaam answered Balak, “Did I not tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,
13 ‘If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not surpass the Commandment of the LORD, to do good or bad of my own mind’? What the LORD shall Command, that same will I speak.
14 “And now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will advise you what this people shall do to your folk in the latter days.”
15 And he uttered his parable, and said, “Balaam, the son of Beor, has said, and the man whose eyes were shut up has said,
16 “He who has heard the words of God, and has the knowledge of the most High, and saw the vision of the Almighty, and has fallen and had his eyes opened, has said,
17 “I shall see him, but not now. I shall behold him, but not near. There shall come a Star of Jacob. And a Scepter shall rise from Israel and shall strike the coasts of Moab and destroy all the sons of Sheth.
18 “And Edom shall be possessed and Seir shall be a possession to their enemies. But Israel shall do valiantly.
19 “He also who shall have dominion shall be of Jacob and shall destroy the remnant of the city.”
20 And when he looked at Amalek, he uttered his parable, and said, “Amalek was the first of the nations. But his latter end shall come to destruction.”
21 And he looked on the Kenites, and uttered his parable, and said, “Strong is your dwelling place. And put your nest in the Rock.
22 “Nevertheless, the Kenite shall be spoiled until Asshur carry you away captive.”
23 Again, he uttered his parable, and said, “Alas, who shall live when God does this?
24 “The ships also shall come from the coasts of Kittim and subdue Asshur and shall subdue Eber. And he also shall come to destruction.”
25 Then Balaam rose up and went and returned to his place. And Balak also went his way.

24 Sa dihang nakita ni Balaam nga gusto sa Ginoo nga panalanginan ang Israel, wala na siya managna sama sa iyang gihimo kaniadto, kondili miatubang hinuon siya sa kamingawan 2 diin nakita niya ang mga Israelinhon nga nagkampo sumala sa ilang tagsa-tagsa ka tribo. Unya gigamhan siya sa Espiritu sa Dios, 3 ug unya miingon siya, “Ako si Balaam nga anak ni Beor, ug may maayo akong panabot.[a] 4 Nadungog ko ang pulong sa Dios, ug nakakita ako ug panan-awon nga gikan sa Makagagahom nga Dios. Nagpaubos ako kaniya, ug gipasabot niya ako.[b] Mao kini ang akong mensahe:
5 Pagkatahom sa mga tolda nga ginapuy-an sa katawhan sa Israel nga mga kaliwat ni Jacob.
6 Sama kini sa naglinya nga mga palma,[c] ug sa mga hardin sa daplin sa suba.
Sama usab kini sa kahoyng aloe nga gitanom sa Ginoo, ug sa mga kahoyng sedro sa daplin sa katubigan.
7 Mag-awas ang tubig sa ilang mga sudlanan, ug magtanom silag liso diha sa mga yuta nga abunda ug tubig.
Ang ilang hari mahimong mas gamhanan kaysa kang Agag nga hari sa mga Amalekanhon. Ug ang ilang gingharian mabantog.
8 Gipagawas sila sa Dios gikan sa Ehipto; sama siya sa usa ka torong baka nga kusgan alang kanila.
Panaon ug laglagon nila ang ilang mga kaaway; nga daw sa ginalamoy lang nila, ug daw sa ginadugmok nila ang ilang mga bukog.
9 Sama sila sa mga liyon nga kon nakatulog na walay mangahas sa pagpukaw kanila.
Panalanginan ang nagapanalangin kanila ug panghimaraoton ang mga nagapanghimaraot kanila.”
10 “Tungod niini, labihang sukoa ni Balak kang Balaam. Gisumbag ni Balak ang iyang kaugalingong palad ug giingnan si Balaam, ‘Gipatawag ko ikaw aron sa pagpanghimaraot sa akong mga kaaway, apan gipanalanginan mo hinuon sila sa tulo ka higayon. 11 Karon, pauli dayon! Miingon ako nga suholan ko gayod ikaw, apan dili motugot ang Ginoo nga maangkon mo ang suhol.’ ” 12 Mitubag si Balaam kang Balak, “Dili ba giingnan ko man ang imong mga mensahero, 13 nga bisag ihatag mo pa kanako ang imong palasyo nga puno sa pilak ug bulawan, dili ako makahimo sa pagbuhat sa akong kaugalingong kabubut-on—maayo man o daotan? Ang giingon sa Ginoo kanako nga akong isulti, mao lay akong isulti. 14 Oo, karon dayon mopauli ako ngadto sa akong mga katagilungsod. Apan pasidan-an ko ikawng daan kon unsay buhaton niining mga tawhana sa imong katawhan sa ulahing mga adlaw.”
Ang Ikaupat nga Mensahe ni Balaam
15 Unya gisulti ni Balaam kini nga mensahe: “Ako si Balaam nga anak ni Beor, ug may maayo akong panabot. 16 Nadungog ko ang pulong sa Labing Halangdong Dios ug gihatagan niya ako ug panabot. Nakakita akog panan-awon gikan sa Makagagahom nga Dios. Nagpaubos ako kaniya, ug gipasabot niya ako. Mao kini ang akong mensahe:
17 “May nakita ako sa akong panan-awon nga wala pa nahitabo. Sa umaabot may magahari[d] sa Israel nga gikan sa kaliwat ni Jacob. Laglagon niya ang mga Moabihanon ug ang tanang kaliwat ni Set. 18 Sakopon niya ang Edom nga iyang kaaway, nga gitawag usab ug Seir, samtang ang Israel molig-on. 19 Magadumala ang usa ka pangulo sa Israel[e] ug laglagon niya ang mga nahibiling buhi sa lungsod sa Moab.”
Ang Kataposan nga Mensahe ni Balaam
20 Unya nakita ni Balaam sa iyang panan-awon ang katawhan ni Amalek ug miingon siya, “Kaniadto ang Amalek mao ang nagauna sa mga nasod, apan malaglag kini.”
21 Unya nakita usab ni Balaam sa iyang panan-awon ang mga Kenihanon ug miingon siya, “Lig-on ang inyong puloy-anan, kay nahimutang kini sa batoon nga bukid. 22 Apan malaglag kamo kon bihagon na kamo sa Asiria.”
23 Ug misulti pa gayod si Balaam niini nga mensahe, “Kinsay magpabiling buhi kon buhaton na kini sa Dios? 24 Mangabot ang mga barko nga gikan sa Kitim, ug sakopon nila ang mga katawhan sa Asiria ug Eber, apan ang Kitim malaglag usab.”
25 Unya mipauli si Balaam ingon man si Balak.

24 Now when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel,(A) he did not resort to divination(B) as at other times, but turned his face toward the wilderness.(C) 2 When Balaam looked out and saw Israel encamped tribe by tribe, the Spirit of God came on him(D) 3 and he spoke his message:
“The prophecy of Balaam son of Beor,
the prophecy of one whose eye sees clearly,(E)
4 the prophecy of one who hears the words of God,(F)
who sees a vision from the Almighty,[a](G)
who falls prostrate, and whose eyes are opened:
5 “How beautiful are your tents,(H) Jacob,
your dwelling places, Israel!
6 “Like valleys they spread out,
like gardens beside a river,(I)
like aloes(J) planted by the Lord,
like cedars beside the waters.(K)
7 Water will flow from their buckets;
their seed will have abundant water.
8 “God brought them out of Egypt;
they have the strength of a wild ox.
They devour hostile nations
and break their bones in pieces;(N)
with their arrows they pierce them.(O)
9 Like a lion they crouch and lie down,
like a lioness(P)—who dares to rouse them?
10 Then Balak’s anger burned(S) against Balaam. He struck his hands together(T) and said to him, “I summoned you to curse my enemies,(U) but you have blessed them(V) these three times.(W) 11 Now leave at once and go home!(X) I said I would reward you handsomely,(Y) but the Lord has kept you from being rewarded.”
12 Balaam answered Balak, “Did I not tell the messengers you sent me,(Z) 13 ‘Even if Balak gave me all the silver and gold in his palace, I could not do anything of my own accord, good or bad, to go beyond the command of the Lord(AA)—and I must say only what the Lord says’?(AB) 14 Now I am going back to my people, but come, let me warn you of what this people will do to your people in days to come.”(AC)
Balaam’s Fourth Message
15 Then he spoke his message:
“The prophecy of Balaam son of Beor,
the prophecy of one whose eye sees clearly,
16 the prophecy of one who hears the words(AD) of God,
who has knowledge from the Most High,(AE)
who sees a vision from the Almighty,
who falls prostrate, and whose eyes are opened:
17 “I see him, but not now;
I behold him, but not near.(AF)
A star will come out of Jacob;(AG)
a scepter will rise out of Israel.(AH)
He will crush the foreheads of Moab,(AI)
the skulls[b](AJ) of[c] all the people of Sheth.[d]
18 Edom(AK) will be conquered;
Seir,(AL) his enemy, will be conquered,(AM)
but Israel(AN) will grow strong.
19 A ruler will come out of Jacob(AO)
and destroy the survivors of the city.”
Balaam’s Fifth Message
20 Then Balaam saw Amalek(AP) and spoke his message:
“Amalek was first among the nations,
but their end will be utter destruction.”(AQ)
Balaam’s Sixth Message
21 Then he saw the Kenites(AR) and spoke his message:
“Your dwelling place is secure,(AS)
your nest is set in a rock;
22 yet you Kenites will be destroyed
when Ashur(AT) takes you captive.”
Balaam’s Seventh Message
23 Then he spoke his message:
“Alas! Who can live when God does this?[e]
24 Ships will come from the shores of Cyprus;(AU)
they will subdue Ashur(AV) and Eber,(AW)
but they too will come to ruin.(AX)”
25 Then Balaam(AY) got up and returned home, and Balak went his own way.

2 And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
3 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
4 He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
5 How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!
6 As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the trees of lign aloes which the Lord hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.
7 He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.
8 God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.
9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.
10 And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.
11 Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the Lord hath kept thee back from honour.
12 And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,
13 If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the Lord, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the Lord saith, that will I speak?
14 And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.
15 And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
16 He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.
18 And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.
19 Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.

25 And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.
