²³ Now ^(A)the advice of Ahithophel, which he ^[a]gave in those days, was taken as though one inquired of the word of God; ^(B)so was all the advice of Ahithophel regarded by both David and Absalom.

²² But the word of God came to ^(A)Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

⁵ All these were the sons of Heman ^(A)the king’s seer to ^[a]exalt him according to the words of God, for God gave fourteen sons and three daughters to Heman.

⁶ he is not to ^[a]honor his father or mother.’ And by this you have invalidated the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

¹³ thereby invalidating the word of God by your ^(A)tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that.”
