¹⁸ And He said to them, ^(A)“I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. ¹⁹ Behold, ^(B)I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

²² The children of Israel also killed with the sword ^(A)Balaam the son of Beor, the ^[a]soothsayer, among those who were killed by them.

²⁷ And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.

²³ But they were ^(A)hearing only, “He who formerly ^(B)persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy.” ²⁴ And they ^(C)glorified God in me.

²⁰ And ^(A)the God of peace ^(B)will crush Satan under your feet shortly.

Balaam Foretells the Happiness of Israel

24 Now when Balaam saw that it pleased the Lord to bless Israel, he did not go as at ^(A)other times, to seek to use ^[a]sorcery, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
