² Now ^(A)Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. ³ And ^(B)Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel. ⁴ So Moab said to ^(C)the elders of Midian, “Now this company will ^[a]lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. ⁵ Then ^(D)he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor at ^(E)Pethor, which is near ^[b]the River in the land of ^[c]the sons of his people, to call him, saying: “Look, a people has come from Egypt. See, they cover the face of the earth, and are settling next to me! ^6 (F)Therefore please come at once, ^(G)curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”

^3 (A)‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and ^[a]mighty things, which you do not know.’

A Cup of Cold Water^(A)

^40 (B)“He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me. ^41 (C)He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. ^42 (D)And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.”

¹⁴ Nevertheless you have done well that ^(A)you shared in my distress. ¹⁵ Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, ^(B)no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. ¹⁶ For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. ¹⁷ Not that I seek the gift, but I seek ^(C)the fruit that abounds to your account. ¹⁸ Indeed I ^[a]have all and abound. I am full, having received from ^(D)Epaphroditus the things sent from you, ^(E)a sweet-smelling aroma, ^(F)an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. ¹⁹ And my God ^(G)shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
