¹² God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them. You shall not curse the people, for ^(A)they are blessed.”

Spiritual Blessings in Christ

^3 (A)Blessed be ^(B)the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing ^(C)in the heavenly places,

⁵ But the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam; instead the Lord your God turned ^(A)the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loved you.

²⁹ For the gifts and ^(A)the calling of God are irrevocable.

^2 (A)And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.

¹⁹ So you, too, ^(A)please stay here tonight, that I may know what more the Lord will say to me.” ^20 (B)And God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men have come to call you, rise, go with them; ^(C)but only do what I tell you.”

¹⁶ and said, ^(A)“By myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, ¹⁷ I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring ^(B)as the stars of heaven and ^(C)as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess ^(D)the gate of his^[a] enemies, ¹⁸ and ^(E)in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, ^(F)because you have obeyed my voice.”

⁶ just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:
