Numbers 21:12-15

New International Version

¹²From there they moved on and camped in the Zered Valley.^(A) ¹³They set out from there and camped alongside the Arnon^(B), which is in the wilderness extending into Amorite territory. The Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.^(C) ¹⁴That is why the Book of the Wars^(D) of the Lord says:

“. . . Zahab^[a] in Suphah and the ravines,
the Arnon ¹⁵and^[b] the slopes of the ravines
that lead to the settlement of Ar^(E)
and lie along the border of Moab.”

Judges 11:17-18

New International Version

¹⁷Then Israel sent messengers^(A) to the king of Edom, saying, ‘Give us permission to go through your country,’^(B) but the king of Edom would not listen. They sent also to the king of Moab,^(C) and he refused.^(D) So Israel stayed at Kadesh.

¹⁸“Next they traveled through the wilderness, skirted the lands of Edom^(E) and Moab, passed along the eastern side^(F) of the country of Moab, and camped on the other side of the Arnon.^(G) They did not enter the territory of Moab, for the Arnon was its border.
