Numbers 19:18-20:6

¹⁸Then a clean person shall take ^(A)hyssop and dip it in the water and sprinkle it on the tent and on all the furnishings and on the persons who were there and on whoever touched the bone, or the slain or the dead or the grave. ¹⁹And the clean person shall sprinkle it on the unclean ^(B)on the third day and on the seventh day. ^(C)Thus on the seventh day he shall cleanse him, and he shall ^(D)wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and at evening he shall be clean.

²⁰“If the man who is unclean does not cleanse himself, ^(E)that person shall be cut off from the midst of the assembly, since he has defiled the sanctuary of the Lord. Because the water for impurity has not been thrown on him, he is unclean. ²¹And it shall be a statute forever for them. The one who sprinkles the water for impurity shall wash his clothes, and the one who touches the water for impurity shall be unclean until evening. ²²And ^(F)whatever the unclean person touches shall be unclean, and anyone who touches it shall be unclean until evening.”

The Death of Miriam

20 And the people of Israel, the whole congregation, came ^(G)into the wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people stayed in Kadesh. And ^(H)Miriam died there and was buried there.

The Waters of Meribah

²^(I)Now there was no water for the congregation. ^(J)And they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. ³And the people ^(K)quarreled with Moses and said, “Would that we had perished ^(L)when our brothers perished before the Lord! ⁴Why have you brought the assembly of the Lord into this wilderness, that we should die here, both we and our cattle? ⁵And ^(M)why have you made us come up out of Egypt to bring us to this evil place? It is no place for grain or figs or vines or pomegranates, and there is no water to drink.” ⁶Then Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the entrance of the tent of meeting and ^(N)fell on their faces. ^(O)And the glory of the Lord appeared to them,
