² and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, ^(A)representatives of the congregation, men of renown.

^3 (A)They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You ^[a]take too much upon yourselves, for ^(B)all the congregation is holy, every one of them, ^(C)and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”

²⁴ These were the heads of their fathers’ houses: Epher, Ishi, Eliel, Azriel, Jeremiah, Hodaviah, and Jahdiel. They were mighty men of valor, famous men, and heads of their fathers’ houses.

²⁵ And they were unfaithful to the God of their fathers, and ^(A)played the harlot after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.
