12 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
2 And they said, Hath the Lord indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the Lord heard it.
3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)
4 And the Lord spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.
5 And the Lord came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.
6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.
8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
9 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them; and he departed.
10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.
11 And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.
12 Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb.
13 And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.
14 And the Lord said unto Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be received in again.
15 And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days: and the people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again.
16 And afterward the people removed from Hazeroth, and pitched in the wilderness of Paran.

12 Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married, for he had married a Cushite woman. 2 And they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? (A)Has he not spoken through us also?” And (B)the Lord heard it. 3 Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth. 4 And suddenly the Lord said to Moses and to Aaron and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tent of meeting.” And the three of them came out. 5 And (C)the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the tent and called Aaron and Miriam, and they both came forward. 6 And he said, “Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him (D)in a vision; I speak with him (E)in a dream. 7 Not so with (F)my servant Moses. (G)He is faithful in all my house. 8 With him I speak (H)mouth to mouth, clearly, and not in (I)riddles, and he beholds (J)the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” 9 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them, and he departed.
10 When the cloud removed from over the tent, behold, (K)Miriam was (L)leprous,[a] like snow. And Aaron turned toward Miriam, and behold, she was leprous. 11 And Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord, (M)do not punish us[b] because we have done foolishly and have sinned. 12 Let her not be as one dead, whose flesh is half eaten away when he comes out of his mother's womb.” 13 And Moses cried to the Lord, “O God, please heal her—please.” 14 But the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had but (N)spit in her face, should she not be shamed seven days? Let her be (O)shut outside the camp seven days, and after that she may be brought in again.” 15 So Miriam (P)was shut outside the camp seven days, and the people did not set out on the march till Miriam was brought in again. 16 After that the people set out from (Q)Hazeroth, and camped in (R)the wilderness of Paran.

Marie frappée de la lèpre
12 Marie et Aaron parlèrent contre Moïse au sujet de la femme éthiopienne qu’il avait prise, car il avait pris une femme éthiopienne. 2 Ils dirent: Est-ce seulement par Moïse que l’Eternel parle? N’est-ce pas aussi par nous qu’il parle? 3 Et l’Eternel l’entendit. Or, Moïse était un homme fort patient, plus qu’aucun homme sur la face de la terre.
4 Soudain l’Eternel dit à Moïse, à Aaron et à Marie: Allez, vous trois, à la tente d’assignation. Et ils y allèrent tous les trois. 5 L’Eternel descendit dans la colonne de nuée, et il se tint à l’entrée de la tente. Il appela Aaron et Marie, qui s’avancèrent tous les deux. 6 Et il dit: Ecoutez bien mes paroles! Lorsqu’il y aura parmi vous un prophète, c’est dans une vision que moi, l’Eternel, je me révélerai à lui, c’est dans un songe que je lui parlerai. 7 Il n’en est pas ainsi de mon serviteur Moïse. Il est fidèle dans toute ma maison[a]. 8 Je lui parle bouche à bouche, je me révèle à lui sans énigmes, et il voit une représentation de l’Eternel. Pourquoi donc n’avez-vous pas craint de parler contre mon serviteur, contre Moïse?
9 La colère de l’Eternel s’enflamma contre eux. Et il s’en alla. 10 La nuée se retira de dessus la tente. Et voici, Marie était frappée d’une lèpre, blanche comme la neige. Aaron se tourna vers Marie; et voici, elle avait la lèpre. 11 Alors Aaron dit à Moïse: De grâce, mon seigneur, ne nous fais pas porter la peine du péché que nous avons commis en insensés, et dont nous nous sommes rendus coupables! 12 Oh! qu’elle ne soit pas comme l’enfant mort-né, dont la chair est à moitié consumée quand il sort du sein de sa mère! 13 Moïse cria à l’Eternel, en disant: O Dieu, je te prie, guéris-la! 14 Et l’Eternel dit à Moïse: Si son père lui avait craché au visage, ne serait-elle pas pendant sept jours un objet de honte? Qu’elle soit enfermée sept jours en dehors du camp; après quoi, elle y sera reçue. 15 Marie fut enfermée sept jours en dehors du camp; et le peuple ne partit point, jusqu’à ce que Marie y soit rentrée.
16 Après cela, le peuple partit de Hatséroth, et il campa dans le désert de Paran.

Mirjam och Aron kritiserar Mose
1-2 En dag började Mirjam och Aron att kritisera Mose därför att hans hustru kom från Etiopien. De sa: Är det bara genom Mose som Herren har talat? Har han inte talat genom oss också? Herren hörde dem,
3-4 och reagerade omedelbart och kallade dem alla tre till tabernaklet. Mose var faktiskt den mest ödmjuka och anspråkslösa människa man kunde tänka sig.
5 Herren steg ner till dem i molnet och ställde sig vid ingången till tabernaklet. Kom fram hit, Aron och Mirjam! sa han. De steg då fram,
6 och Herren sa till dem: Det är genom syner och drömmar som jag talar till er människor, till och med om det är fråga om profeter.
7-8 Men det är inte på det sättet som jag talar med min tjänare Mose. Han har förtroende här i mitt hus, och med honom talar jag ansikte mot ansikte, i klartext och inte i gåtor! Hur vågar ni då kritisera honom?
9 De hade verkligen lyckats väcka Herrens vrede. När han lämnade dem
10 och molnet flyttade sig från tabernaklet, upptäckte Mirjam plötsligt att hon var alldeles vit som av spetälska. Aron fick se vad som hänt
11 och ropade förtvivlat till Mose: Straffa oss inte för den synd vi begått! Det var vansinnigt, det vi gjorde.
12-14 Låt henne inte vara som en levande död, som en som är född vanställd.13Herre, jag ber dig, gör henne frisk igen! ropade då Mose till Gud. 14Och Herren sa till Mose: Om hennes far hade spottat henne i ansiktet skulle hon ju ha varit oren i sju dagar. Låt henne nu hålla sig utanför lägret i sju dagar, och sedan kan hon få komma tillbaka.
15 Mirjam blev alltså utestängd från lägret och visade sig inte på sju dagar. Folket väntade med att gå vidare, tills hon kom tillbaka. Sedan lämnade de Haserot och slog läger i öknen Paran.

12 Miriam(A) and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife,(B) for he had married a Cushite. 2 “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?”(C) And the Lord heard this.(D)
3 (Now Moses was a very humble man,(E) more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)
4 At once the Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, “Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them went out. 5 Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud;(F) he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward, 6 he said, “Listen to my words:
“When there is a prophet among you,
I, the Lord, reveal(G) myself to them in visions,(H)
I speak to them in dreams.(I)
7 But this is not true of my servant Moses;(J)
he is faithful in all my house.(K)
8 With him I speak face to face,
clearly and not in riddles;(L)
he sees the form of the Lord.(M)
Why then were you not afraid
to speak against my servant Moses?”(N)
9 The anger of the Lord burned against them,(O) and he left them.(P)
10 When the cloud lifted from above the tent,(Q) Miriam’s skin was leprous[a]—it became as white as snow.(R) Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had a defiling skin disease,(S) 11 and he said to Moses, “Please, my lord, I ask you not to hold against us the sin we have so foolishly committed.(T) 12 Do not let her be like a stillborn infant coming from its mother’s womb with its flesh half eaten away.”
13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, “Please, God, heal her!(U)”
14 The Lord replied to Moses, “If her father had spit in her face,(V) would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp(W) for seven days; after that she can be brought back.” 15 So Miriam was confined outside the camp(X) for seven days,(Y) and the people did not move on till she was brought back.
16 After that, the people left Hazeroth(Z) and encamped in the Desert of Paran.(AA)
