Dissension of Aaron and Miriam

12 Then ^(A)Miriam and Aaron ^[a]spoke ^(B)against Moses because of the ^[b]Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for ^(C)he had married an Ethiopian woman. ² So they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through ^(D)Moses? ^(E)Has He not spoken through us also?” And the Lord ^(F)heard it. ³ (Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)

^4 (G)Suddenly the Lord said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” So the three came out. ^5 (H)Then the Lord came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward. ⁶ Then He said,

⁹ So the anger of the Lord was aroused against them, and He departed. ¹⁰ And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, ^(R)suddenly Miriam became ^(S)leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper.

¹⁵ “See, ^(A)I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, ¹⁶ in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. ¹⁷ But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, ^18 (B)I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. ^19 (C)I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that ^(D)I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

^15 (A)“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. ¹⁶ So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither ^[a]cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.
