Numbers 11:26-30
New International Version
26 However, two men, whose names were Eldad and Medad, had remained in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but did not go out to the tent. Yet the Spirit also rested on them,(A) and they prophesied in the camp. 27 A young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”
28 Joshua son of Nun,(B) who had been Moses’ aide(C) since youth, spoke up and said, “Moses, my lord, stop them!”(D)
29 But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets(E) and that the Lord would put his Spirit(F) on them!”(G) 30 Then Moses and the elders of Israel returned to the camp.
Numbers 11:26-30
Common English Bible
26 Two men had remained in the camp, one named Eldad and the second named Medad, and the spirit rested on them. They were among those registered, but they hadn’t gone out to the tent, so they prophesied in the camp. 27 A young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”
28 Joshua, Nun’s son and Moses’ assistant since his youth, responded, “My master Moses, stop them!”
29 Moses said to him, “Are you jealous for my sake? If only all the Lord’s people were prophets with the Lord placing his spirit on them!”
