Nagreklamo ang mga Israelita kay Moises

11 Nagreklamo ang mga Israelita kay Moises dahil sa hirap na kanilang dinaranas. Nang marinig ito ng Panginoon, nagalit siya at nagpadala siya ng apoy na sumunog sa ilang dulong bahagi ng kampo. 2 Dahil dito, humingi ng tulong ang mga Israelita kay Moises, at nanalangin si Moises sa Panginoon, at namatay ang apoy. 3 Kaya ang lugar na iyon ay pinangalanang Tabera,[a] dahil nagpadala ang Panginoon ng apoy sa kanila.

4 May mga grupo ng dayuhan na sumama sa mga Israelita na naghahanap ng mga pagkaing gusto nilang kainin, kaya nagreklamo pati ang mga Israelita na nagsasabi, “Kung makakakain man lang sana tayo ng karne. 5 Noong naroon tayo sa Egipto, nakakakain tayo ng mga libreng isda at ng mga pipino, melon, sibuyas at mga bawang. 6 Pero dito wala tayong ganang kumain;[b] puro ‘manna’ lang ang ating kinakain.”

7 Ang mga “manna” na ito ay parang mga buto na maliliit at mapuputi. 8-9 Pinupulot ito ng mga Israelita sa lupa tuwing umaga at ginigiling nila ito o binabayo sa lusong. Pagkatapos, niluluto nila ito sa banga at ginagawang manipis na tinapay. Ang lasa nito ay katulad ng tinapay na niluto sa langis ng olibo.

10 Narinig ni Moises ang reklamo ng bawat pamilya sa pintuan ng kanilang mga tolda. Kaya nagalit nang matindi ang Panginoon sa kanila, at dahil ditoʼy nabahala si Moises. 11 Nagtanong siya sa Panginoon, “Bakit nʼyo po ako binigyan na inyong lingkod ng malaking problema? Ano po ba ang ginawa ko na hindi kayo natuwa kaya ibinigay ninyo sa akin ang problema ng mga taong ito? 12 Mga anak ko po ba sila? Ama ba nila ako? Bakit ninyo sinasabi sa akin na alagaan ko sila katulad ng isang yaya na kumakarga sa isang bata, at dalhin sila sa lupaing ipinangako ninyo sa kanilang mga ninuno? 13 Saan po ba ako kukuha ng karne para sa mga taong ito? Dahil patuloy ang pagrereklamo nila sa akin na bigyan ko sila ng karneng makakain nila. 14 Hindi ko po sila kayang alagaang lahat nang mag-isa. Napakahirap nito para sa akin. 15 Kung ganito lang po ang pagtrato ninyo sa akin, patayin na lang ninyo ako ngayon. Kung nalulugod kayo sa akin, huwag ninyo akong pabayaang magdusa.”

16 Kaya sinabi ng Panginoon kay Moises, “Tipunin mo ang 70 sa mga tagapamahala ng Israel na kilalang-kilala mo na mga pinuno ng mga mamamayan, at papuntahin sila sa Toldang Tipanan at patayuin sila roon kasama mo. 17 Bababa ako at makikipag-usap sa iyo roon, at ibibigay ko sa kanila ang ibang kapangyarihan[c] na ibinigay ko sa iyo upang makatulong sila sa pamamahala ng mga tao para hindi lang ikaw mag-isa ang namamahala.

18 “Pagkatapos, sabihin mo sa mga tao na linisin nila ang kanilang sarili[d] dahil bukas, may makakain na silang karne. Sabihin mo ito sa kanila: ‘Narinig ko ang inyong reklamo na gusto ninyong kumain ng karne. At sinasabi ninyo na mas mabuti pa ang inyong kalagayan sa Egipto. Kaya bukas, bibigyan ko kayo ng karne para makakain kayo. 19 Hindi lang isang araw, o dalawa, o lima, o 10, o 20 araw ang pagkain ninyo nito, 20 kundi isang buwan, hanggang sa magsawa kayo[e] at hindi na kayo makakain nito. Dahil itinakwil ninyo ako na sumasama sa inyo, at nagreklamo kayo sa akin na sanaʼy hindi na lang kayo umalis sa Egipto.’ ”

21 Pero sinabi ni Moises, “600,000 lahat ang tao na kasama ko, at ngayoʼy sinasabi po ninyo na bibigyan ninyo sila ng karne na kanilang kakainin sa loob ng isang buwan? 22 Kahit po katayin pa namin ang lahat ng tupa at baka o kahit hulihin pa namin ang mga isda sa dagat, hindi po ito magkakasya sa kanila.” 23 Sinabi ng Panginoon kay Moises, “May limitasyon ba ang aking kapangyarihan? Makikita mo ngayon kung mangyayari ang sinabi ko o hindi.”

24 Kaya lumakad si Moises at sinabi sa mga tao ang sinabi ng Panginoon. Tinipon niya ang 70 tagapamahala at pinatayo sa palibot ng Tolda. 25 Pagkatapos, bumaba ang Panginoon sa pamamagitan ng ulap at nakipag-usap kay Moises. Kinuha niya ang ibang kapangyarihan[f] ni Moises at ibinigay sa 70 tagapamahala. At nang matanggap nila ito, nagsalita sila kagaya ng mga propeta pero hindi na ito nangyari pang muli.

26 Ang dalawa sa 70 tagapamahala na sina Eldad at Medad ay nagpaiwan sa kampo at hindi pumunta sa Tolda. Pero natanggap din nila ang kapangyarihan at nagsalita rin sila na kagaya ng mga propeta. 27 May isang binata na nagtatakbo papunta kay Moises at sinabi na nagsasalita sina Eldad at Medad doon sa kampo na kagaya ng mga propeta. 28 Sinabi ni Josue na anak ni Nun, na naging katulong ni Moises mula noong bata pa ito, “Amo, patigilin po ninyo sila.” 29 Pero sumagot si Moises, “Nababahala ka ba kung ano ang magiging resulta nito sa aking pagkapinuno? Kung sa akin lang, gusto kong bigyan ng Panginoon ng kapangyarihan ang lahat ng mamamayan at makapagsalita sila kagaya ng mga propeta.” 30 Pagkatapos, bumalik sa kampo si Moises at ang mga tagapamahala ng Israel.

31 Ngayon, nagpadala ang Panginoon ng hangin na nagdala ng mga pugo mula sa dagat. Lumipad-lipad sila sa palibot ng kampo at ibinagsak sa lupa; mga tatlong talampakan ang taas ng bunton nito at mga ilang kilometro ang lawak ng ibinunton na mga pugo. 32 Kaya nang araw na iyon at nang sumunod pang araw, nanghuli ang mga tao ng mga pugo araw at gabi. Walang nakakuha nang bababa pa sa 30 sako at ibinilad nila ito sa palibot ng kampo. 33 Pero habang nginunguya pa nila ang karne at hindi pa nalululon ito, nagalit ang Panginoon sa kanila, at pinadalhan sila ng salot. 34 Kaya tinawag ang lugar na iyon na Kibrot Hataava[g] dahil doon inilibing ang mga taong matatakaw sa karne. 35 Mula roon, naglakbay ang mga Israelita sa Hazerot, at doon nagkampo.

The People Complain

11 Now (A)when the people complained, it displeased the Lord; (B)for the Lord heard it, and His anger was aroused. So the (C)fire of the Lord burned among them, and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp. 2 Then the people (D)cried out to Moses, and when Moses (E)prayed to the Lord, the fire was [a]quenched. 3 So he called the name of the place [b]Taberah, because the fire of the Lord had burned among them.

4 Now the (F)mixed multitude who were among them [c]yielded to (G)intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: (H)“Who will give us meat to eat? 5 (I)We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; 6 but now (J)our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!”

7 Now (K)the manna was like coriander seed, and its color like the color of bdellium. 8 The people went about and gathered it, ground it on millstones or beat it in the mortar, cooked it in pans, and made cakes of it; and (L)its taste was like the taste of pastry prepared with oil. 9 And (M)when the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.

10 Then Moses heard the people weeping throughout their families, everyone at the door of his tent; and (N)the anger of the Lord was greatly aroused; Moses also was displeased. 11 (O)So Moses said to the Lord, “Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the [d]burden of all these people on me? 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I beget them, that You should say to me, (P)‘Carry them in your bosom, as a (Q)guardian carries a nursing child,’ to the land which You (R)swore[e] to their fathers? 13 (S)Where am I to get meat to give to all these people? For they weep all over me, saying, ‘Give us meat, that we may eat.’ 14 (T)I am not able to bear all these people alone, because the burden is too heavy for me. 15 If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now—if I have found favor in Your sight—and (U)do not let me see my wretchedness!”

The Seventy Elders

16 So the Lord said to Moses: “Gather to Me (V)seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you know to be the elders of the people and (W)officers over them; bring them to the tabernacle of meeting, that they may stand there with you. 17 Then I will come down and talk with you there. (X)I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone. 18 Then you shall say to the people, [f]‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you have wept (Y)in the hearing of the Lord, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat. 19 You shall eat, not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days, 20 (Z)but for a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have (AA)despised the Lord who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, (AB)“Why did we ever come up out of Egypt?” ’ ”

21 And Moses said, (AC)“The people whom I am among are six hundred thousand men on foot; yet You have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat for a whole month.’ 22 (AD)Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to provide enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to provide enough for them?”

23 And the Lord said to Moses, (AE)“Has[g] the Lord’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether (AF)what I say will happen to you or not.”

24 So Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord, and he (AG)gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and placed them around the tabernacle. 25 Then the Lord came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and placed the same upon the seventy elders; and it happened, (AH)when the Spirit rested upon them, that (AI)they prophesied, [h]although they never did so again.

26 But two men had remained in the camp: the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those listed, but who (AJ)had not gone out to the tabernacle; yet they prophesied in the camp. 27 And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.”

28 So Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, one of his choice men, answered and said, “Moses my lord, (AK)forbid them!”

29 Then Moses said to him, “Are you [i]zealous for my sake? (AL)Oh, that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them!” 30 And Moses returned to the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

The Lord Sends Quail

31 Now a (AM)wind went out from the Lord, and it brought quail from the sea and left them fluttering near the camp, about a day’s journey on this side and about a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the ground. 32 And the people stayed up all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten (AN)homers); and they spread them out for themselves all around the camp. 33 But while the (AO)meat was still between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was aroused against the people, and the Lord struck the people with a very great plague. 34 So he called the name of that place [j]Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had yielded to craving.

35 (AP)From Kibroth Hattaavah the people moved to Hazeroth, and camped at Hazeroth.

Focul Domnului

11 Poporul(A) a cârtit în gura mare împotriva Domnului, zicând că-i merge rău. Când a auzit, Domnul S-a mâniat(B). S-a aprins(C) între ei focul Domnului şi a mistuit o parte din marginea taberei. 2 Poporul a strigat către Moise. Moise s-a rugat(D) Domnului, şi focul s-a stins. 3 Locului aceluia i-au pus numele Tabeera (Ardere), pentru că se aprinsese focul Domnului printre ei.

Prepeliţele

4 Adunăturii(E) de oameni care se aflau în mijlocul lui Israel i-a venit poftă, ba chiar şi copiii lui Israel au început să plângă şi să zică: „Cine(F) ne va da carne să mâncăm? 5 Ne aducem(G) aminte de peştii pe care-i mâncam în Egipt şi care nu ne costau nimic, de castraveţi, de pepeni, de praji, de ceapă şi de usturoi. 6 Acum ni s-a uscat(H) sufletul: nu mai este nimic! Ochii noştri nu văd decât mana aceasta.” 7 Mana(I) semăna cu grăuntele de coriandru şi la vedere era ca bedeliumul(J). 8 Poporul se risipea şi o strângea, o măcina la râşniţă sau o pisa într-o piuă; o fierbea în oală şi făcea turte din ea. Mana avea gustul(K) unei turte făcute cu untdelemn. 9 Când cădea roua(L) noaptea în tabără, cădea şi mana. 10 Moise a auzit pe popor plângând, fiecare în familia lui şi la uşa cortului lui. Mânia(M) Domnului s-a aprins cu tărie. Moise s-a întristat 11 şi a zis(N) Domnului: „Pentru ce mâhneşti Tu pe robul Tău şi pentru ce n-am căpătat eu trecere înaintea Ta, de ai pus peste mine sarcina acestui popor întreg? 12 Oare eu am zămislit pe poporul acesta? Oare eu l-am născut, ca să-mi zici: ‘Poartă-l(O) la sânul tău, cum poartă doica(P) pe copil, până în ţara pe care ai jurat(Q) părinţilor lui că i-o vei da’? 13 De unde(R) să iau carne, ca să dau la tot poporul acesta? Căci ei plâng la mine, zicând: ‘Dă-ne carne ca să mâncăm!’ 14 Eu(S) singur nu pot să port pe tot poporul acesta, căci este prea greu pentru mine. 15 Decât să Te porţi aşa cu mine, mai bine omoară-mă(T), Te rog, dacă mai am vreo trecere înaintea Ta, ca să nu-mi mai văd(U) nenorocirea.” 16 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Adună la Mine şaptezeci(V) de bărbaţi, dintre bătrânii lui Israel, din cei pe care-i cunoşti ca bătrâni ai poporului şi cu putere(W) asupra lor; adu-i la cortul întâlnirii şi să se înfăţişeze acolo împreună cu tine. 17 Eu(X) Mă voi pogorî şi îţi voi vorbi acolo; voi lua din duhul(Y) care este peste tine şi-l voi pune peste ei, ca să poarte împreună cu tine sarcina poporului, şi să n-o porţi tu singur. 18 Să spui poporului: ‘Sfinţiţi-vă(Z) pentru mâine şi aveţi să mâncaţi carne, fiindcă aţi plâns în(AA) auzul Domnului şi aţi zis: «Cine ne va da carne să mâncăm? Căci noi(AB) o duceam bine în Egipt!» Domnul vă va da carne, şi veţi mânca. 19 Aveţi să mâncaţi carne nu o zi, nici două zile, nici cinci zile, nici zece zile, nici douăzeci de zile, 20 ci o lună(AC) întreagă, până vă va ieşi pe nări şi vă veţi scârbi de ea, pentru că n-aţi ascultat de Domnul care este în mijlocul vostru şi pentru că aţi plâns înaintea Lui, zicând: «Pentru ce(AD) am ieşit noi oare din Egipt?»’.” 21 Moise a zis: „Şase sute de mii de oameni care merg pe jos alcătuiesc poporul în mijlocul(AE) căruia sunt eu, şi Tu zici: ‘Le voi da carne şi vor mânca o lună întreagă!’ 22 Putem tăia(AF) oare atâtea oi şi atâţia boi, ca să ajungă? Sau nu cumva avem să prindem toţi peştii mării, ca să le ajungă?” 23 Domnul a răspuns lui Moise: „Nu cumva(AG) s-a scurtat oare mâna Domnului? Vei vedea acum dacă ceea ce ţi-am spus se va(AH) întâmpla sau nu.” 24 Moise a ieşit şi a spus poporului cuvintele Domnului. A adunat(AI) şaptezeci de bărbaţi din bătrânii poporului şi i-a pus în jurul cortului. 25 Domnul S-a pogorât(AJ) în nor şi a vorbit lui Moise; a luat din duhul care era peste el şi l-a pus peste cei şaptezeci de bătrâni. Şi de îndată ce duhul s-a aşezat(AK) peste ei, au început să prorocească(AL), dar după aceea n-au mai prorocit. 26 Doi oameni, unul numit Eldad şi altul Medad, rămăseseră în tabără, şi duhul s-a aşezat şi peste ei, căci erau dintre cei scrişi, măcar că nu(AM) se duseseră la cort. Şi au început să prorocească şi ei în tabără. 27 Un tânăr a alergat şi a dat de ştire lui Moise, zicând: „Eldad şi Medad prorocesc în tabără.” 28 Şi Iosua, fiul lui Nun, care slujea lui Moise din tinereţea lui, a luat cuvântul şi a zis: „Domnule Moise(AN), opreşte-i.” 29 Moise i-a răspuns: „Eşti gelos pentru mine? Să dea Dumnezeu(AO) ca tot poporul Domnului să fie alcătuit din proroci şi Domnul să-Şi pună Duhul Lui peste ei!” 30 Apoi Moise s-a întors în tabără, el şi bătrânii lui Israel. 31 Domnul a făcut să sufle de peste mare un vânt(AP), care a adus prepeliţe şi le-a răspândit peste tabără, cale cam de o zi într-o parte şi cale cam de o zi de cealaltă parte în jurul taberei. Aveau o înălţime de aproape doi coţi de la faţa pământului. 32 În tot timpul zilei aceleia şi toată noaptea şi toată ziua următoare, poporul s-a sculat şi a strâns prepeliţe; cel ce strânsese cel mai puţin avea zece omeri. Ei şi le-au întins în jurul taberei. 33 Pe când carnea(AQ) era încă în dinţii lor, fără să fie mestecată, Domnul S-a aprins de mânie împotriva poporului şi Domnul a lovit poporul cu o urgie foarte mare. 34 Au pus locului aceluia numele Chibrot-Hataava (Mormintele lăcomiei), pentru că acolo au îngropat pe poporul apucat de poftă. 35 De la Chibrot-Hataava, poporul a plecat(AR) la Haţerot şi s-a oprit la Haţerot.
