¹⁷ I will come down and speak with you^(A) there, and I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them.^(B) They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone.^(C)

¹⁰ The Spirit of the Lord came on him,^(A) so that he became Israel’s judge^[a] and went to war. The Lord gave Cushan-Rishathaim^(B) king of Aram^(C) into the hands of Othniel, who overpowered him.

³⁴ Then the Spirit of the Lord came on^(A) Gideon, and he blew a trumpet,^(B) summoning the Abiezrites^(C) to follow him.

²⁹ Then the Spirit^(A) of the Lord came on Jephthah. He crossed Gilead and Manasseh, passed through Mizpah^(B) of Gilead, and from there he advanced against the Ammonites.^(C)

¹⁹ Then the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him.^(A) He went down to Ashkelon,^(B) struck down thirty of their men, stripped them of everything and gave their clothes to those who had explained the riddle. Burning with anger,^(C) he returned to his father’s home.

⁶ The Spirit^(A) of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed^(B) into a different person.

¹³ So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed^(A) him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord^(B) came powerfully upon David.^(C) Samuel then went to Ramah.
