The Silver Trumpets
10 The Lord said to Moses: 2 “Make two trumpets(A) of hammered silver, and use them for calling the community(B) together and for having the camps set out.(C) 3 When both are sounded, the whole community is to assemble before you at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 4 If only one is sounded, the leaders(D)—the heads of the clans of Israel—are to assemble before you. 5 When a trumpet blast is sounded, the tribes camping on the east are to set out.(E) 6 At the sounding of a second blast, the camps on the south are to set out.(F) The blast will be the signal for setting out. 7 To gather the assembly, blow the trumpets,(G) but not with the signal for setting out.(H)
8 “The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to blow the trumpets. This is to be a lasting ordinance for you and the generations to come.(I) 9 When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you,(J) sound a blast on the trumpets.(K) Then you will be remembered(L) by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies.(M) 10 Also at your times of rejoicing—your appointed festivals and New Moon feasts(N)—you are to sound the trumpets(O) over your burnt offerings(P) and fellowship offerings,(Q) and they will be a memorial for you before your God. I am the Lord your God.(R)”
The Israelites Leave Sinai
11 On the twentieth day of the second month of the second year,(S) the cloud lifted(T) from above the tabernacle of the covenant law.(U) 12 Then the Israelites set out from the Desert of Sinai and traveled from place to place until the cloud came to rest in the Desert of Paran.(V) 13 They set out, this first time, at the Lord’s command through Moses.(W)
14 The divisions of the camp of Judah went first, under their standard.(X) Nahshon son of Amminadab(Y) was in command. 15 Nethanel son of Zuar was over the division of the tribe(Z) of Issachar,(AA) 16 and Eliab son of Helon(AB) was over the division of the tribe of Zebulun.(AC) 17 Then the tabernacle was taken down, and the Gershonites and Merarites, who carried it, set out.(AD)
18 The divisions of the camp of Reuben(AE) went next, under their standard.(AF) Elizur son of Shedeur(AG) was in command. 19 Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai was over the division of the tribe of Simeon,(AH) 20 and Eliasaph son of Deuel was over the division of the tribe of Gad.(AI) 21 Then the Kohathites(AJ) set out, carrying the holy things.(AK) The tabernacle was to be set up before they arrived.(AL)
22 The divisions of the camp of Ephraim(AM) went next, under their standard. Elishama son of Ammihud(AN) was in command. 23 Gamaliel son of Pedahzur was over the division of the tribe of Manasseh,(AO) 24 and Abidan son of Gideoni was over the division of the tribe of Benjamin.(AP)
25 Finally, as the rear guard(AQ) for all the units, the divisions of the camp of Dan set out under their standard. Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai(AR) was in command. 26 Pagiel son of Okran was over the division of the tribe of Asher,(AS) 27 and Ahira son of Enan was over the division of the tribe of Naphtali.(AT) 28 This was the order of march for the Israelite divisions as they set out.
29 Now Moses said to Hobab(AU) son of Reuel(AV) the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law,(AW) “We are setting out for the place about which the Lord said, ‘I will give it to you.’(AX) Come with us and we will treat you well, for the Lord has promised good things to Israel.”
30 He answered, “No, I will not go;(AY) I am going back to my own land and my own people.(AZ)”
31 But Moses said, “Please do not leave us. You know where we should camp in the wilderness, and you can be our eyes.(BA) 32 If you come with us, we will share with you(BB) whatever good things the Lord gives us.(BC)”
33 So they set out(BD) from the mountain of the Lord and traveled for three days. The ark of the covenant of the Lord(BE) went before them during those three days to find them a place to rest.(BF) 34 The cloud of the Lord was over them by day when they set out from the camp.(BG)
35 Whenever the ark set out, Moses said,

2 Mache dir zwei silberne Trompeten; in getriebener Arbeit sollst du sie machen, und sie sollen dir dazu dienen, die Gemeinde zusammenzurufen und die Heerlager aufbrechen zu lassen.
3 Wenn man in beide stößt, soll sich die ganze Gemeinde vor dem Eingang der Stiftshütte zu dir versammeln.
4 Wenn man nur in eine stößt, so sollen sich die Fürsten, die Häupter der Tausende Israels, zu dir versammeln.
5 Wenn ihr aber Lärm blast[a], so sollen die Lager aufbrechen, die gegen Osten lagern.
6 Und wenn ihr zum zweiten Mal Lärm blast, so sollen die Lager aufbrechen, die gegen Süden lagern; denn wenn sie aufbrechen sollen, so soll man Lärm blasen.
7 Wenn aber die Gemeinde versammelt werden soll, sollt ihr [in die Trompete] stoßen und nicht Lärm blasen.
8 Und dieses Blasen mit den Trompeten sollen die Söhne Aarons, des Priesters, übernehmen; und das soll euch eine ewige Satzung sein für eure [künftigen] Geschlechter.
9 Und wenn ihr in die Schlacht zieht in eurem Land gegen euren Feind, der euch bedrängt, so sollt ihr Lärm blasen mit den Trompeten, damit an euch gedacht wird vor dem Herrn, eurem Gott, und ihr von euren Feinden errettet werdet.
10 Aber an euren Freudentagen, es sei an euren Festen oder an euren Neumonden, sollt ihr in die Trompeten stoßen bei euren Brandopfern und euren Friedensopfern, damit an euch gedacht wird vor eurem Gott[b]; ich, der Herr, bin euer Gott.
Aufbruch vom Sinai
11 Und es geschah am zwanzigsten Tag, im zweiten Monat des zweiten Jahres, da erhob sich die Wolke über der Wohnung des Zeugnisses.
12 Und die Kinder Israels brachen nach ihrer Aufbruchsordnung aus der Wüste Sinai auf, und die Wolke ließ sich in der Wüste Paran nieder.
13 Sie brachen aber zum ersten Mal nach dem Befehl des Herrn auf, unter der Leitung Moses.
14 Und zwar brach die Abteilung des Lagers der Kinder Judas zuerst auf, nach ihren Heerscharen; und über ihr Heer war Nachschon, der Sohn Amminadabs.
15 Und über das Heer des Stammes der Kinder Issaschars war Nethaneel, der Sohn Zuars.
16 Und über das Heer des Stammes der Kinder Sebulons war Eliab, der Sohn Helons.
17 Darauf wurde die Wohnung abgebaut; und die Söhne Gersons und die Söhne Meraris brachen auf, als Träger der Wohnung.
18 Danach brach die Abteilung des Lagers Ruben auf, nach ihren Heerscharen; und über ihr Heer war Elizur, der Sohn Schedeurs.
19 Und über das Heer des Stammes der Kinder Simeons war Schelumiel, der Sohn Zuri-Schaddais.
20 Und Eljasaph, der Sohn Deguels, war über das Heer des Stammes der Kinder Gads.
21 Darauf brachen auch die Kahatiter auf, die Träger des Heiligtums; jene[c] aber richteten die Wohnung auf, bis diese kamen.
22 Danach brach die Abteilung des Lagers der Kinder Ephraims auf, nach ihren Heerscharen; und über ihr Heer war Elischama, der Sohn Ammihuds;
23 und Gamliel, der Sohn Pedazurs, war über das Heer des Stammes der Kinder Manasses;
24 und Abidan, der Sohn Gideonis, über das Heer des Stammes der Kinder Benjamins.
25 Danach brach die Abteilung des Lagers der Kinder Dans auf, als Nachhut aller Lager, nach ihren Heerscharen; und Achieser, der Sohn Ammi-Schaddais, war über ihr Heer;
26 und Pagiel, der Sohn Ochrans, war über das Heer des Stammes der Kinder Assers;
27 und Achira, der Sohn Enans, war über das Heer des Stammes der Kinder Naphtalis.
28 Das ist die Aufbruchsordnung der Kinder Israels nach ihren Heerscharen; genau so brachen sie auf.
29 Und Mose sprach zu Hobab, dem Sohn Reguels, des Midianiters, seinem Schwager: Wir brechen auf an den Ort, von dem der Herr gesagt hat: Ich will ihn euch geben! Komm mit uns, wir wollen dir Gutes tun; denn der Herr hat Israel Gutes zugesagt!
30 Der aber antwortete ihm: Ich will nicht mit euch gehen, sondern in mein Land und zu meiner Verwandtschaft will ich ziehen!
31 Und [Mose] sprach: Verlass uns doch nicht! Denn du weißt, wo wir uns in der Wüste lagern sollen, und du sollst unser Auge sein!
32 Und wenn du mit uns ziehst, so wollen wir auch an dir tun, was der Herr Gutes an uns tut!
33 So brachen sie auf vom Berg des Herrn, drei Tagereisen weit, und die Lade des Bundes des Herrn zog drei Tagereisen vor ihnen her, um ihnen einen Ruheplatz zu erkunden.
34 Und die Wolke des Herrn war bei Tag über ihnen, wenn sie aus dem Lager aufbrachen.
35 Und es geschah, wenn die Lade aufbrach, so sprach Mose: Herr, stehe auf, dass deine Feinde zerstreut werden, und dass vor dir fliehen, die dich hassen!
36 Und wenn sie ruhte, so sprach er: Kehre wieder, o Herr, zu der Menge der Tausenden Israels!

10 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “Make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for (A)calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps. 3 When (B)they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 4 But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the (C)heads of the divisions of Israel, shall gather to you. 5 When you sound the (D)advance, (E)the camps that lie on the east side shall then begin their journey. 6 When you sound the advance the second time, then the camps that lie (F)on the south side shall begin their journey; they shall sound the call for them to begin their journeys. 7 And when the assembly is to be gathered together, (G)you shall blow, but not (H)sound the advance. 8 (I)The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an [a]ordinance forever throughout your generations.
9 (J)“When you go to war in your land against the enemy who (K)oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be (L)remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from your enemies. 10 Also (M)in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be (N)a memorial for you before your God: I am the Lord your God.”
Departure from Sinai
11 Now it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud (O)was taken up from above the tabernacle of the Testimony. 12 And the children of Israel set out from the (P)Wilderness of Sinai on (Q)their journeys; then the cloud settled down in the (R)Wilderness of Paran. 13 So they started out for the first time (S)according to the command of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
14 The [b]standard of the camp of the children of Judah (T)set out first according to their armies; over their army was (U)Nahshon the son of Amminadab. 15 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethanel the son of Zuar. 16 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.
17 Then (V)the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set out, (W)carrying the tabernacle.
18 And (X)the standard of the camp of Reuben set out according to their armies; over their army was Elizur the son of Shedeur. 19 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai. 20 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

22 And (Z)the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set out according to their armies; over their army was Elishama the son of Ammihud. 23 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. 24 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.
25 Then (AA)the standard of the camp of the children of Dan (the rear guard of all the camps) set out according to their armies; over their army was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. 26 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran. 27 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.
28 (AB)Thus was the order of march of the children of Israel, according to their armies, when they began their journey.
29 Now Moses said to (AC)Hobab the son of (AD)Reuel[d] the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place of which the Lord said, (AE)‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and (AF)we will treat you well; for (AG)the Lord has promised good things to Israel.”
30 And he said to him, “I will not go, but I will depart to my own land and to my relatives.”
31 So Moses said, “Please do not leave, inasmuch as you know how we are to camp in the wilderness, and you can [e]be our (AH)eyes. 32 And it shall be, if you go with us—indeed it shall be—that (AI)whatever good the Lord will do to us, the same we will do to you.”
33 So they departed from (AJ)the mountain of the Lord on a journey of three days; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord (AK)went before them for the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them. 34 And (AL)the cloud of the Lord was above them by day when they went out from the camp.
35 So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said:
(AM)“Rise up, O Lord!
Let Your enemies be scattered,
And let those who hate You flee before You.”
36 And when it rested, he said:
“Return, O Lord,
To the many thousands of Israel.”

10 El Señor dijo a Moisés: 2 «Hazte dos trompetas de plata; las harás labradas a martillo. Y te servirán para convocar a la congregación(A) y para dar la orden de poner en marcha los campamentos. 3 Cuando se toquen las dos(B), toda la congregación se reunirá junto a ti a la puerta de la tienda de reunión. 4 Cuando se toque una sola, entonces se reunirán junto a ti los principales(C), los jefes de las divisiones de Israel.
5 »Pero cuando ustedes toquen alarma, marcharán los que estén acampados al oriente(D). 6 Y cuando toquen alarma la segunda vez, marcharán los acampados al sur(E); se tocará una alarma para que ellos se pongan en marcha. 7 Sin embargo, cuando se convoque la asamblea, tocarán, pero no con toque de alarma(F). 8 Además, los hijos de Aarón, los sacerdotes, tocarán las trompetas(G); y les será a ustedes por estatuto perpetuo por sus generaciones.
9 »Cuando vayan a la guerra en su tierra contra el adversario que los ataque(H), tocarán alarma con las trompetas a fin de que el Señor su Dios se acuerde de ustedes(I), y sean salvados de sus enemigos. 10 Asimismo, en el día de su alegría, en sus fiestas señaladas y en el primer día de sus meses, tocarán las trompetas(J) durante sus holocaustos y durante los sacrificios de sus ofrendas de paz; y serán para ustedes como recordatorio delante de su Dios. Yo soy el Señor su Dios».

11 En el año segundo(K), en el mes segundo, el día veinte del mes, la nube se levantó de sobre el tabernáculo[a] del testimonio; 12 y los israelitas salieron, según su orden de marcha(L), del desierto de Sinaí. Y la nube se detuvo en el desierto de Parán(M). 13 Así marcharon la primera vez conforme al mandamiento del Señor por medio de Moisés(N). 14 La bandera del campamento de los hijos de Judá, según sus ejércitos, salió primero, con Naasón, hijo de Aminadab, al frente de su ejército(O); 15 Natanael, hijo de Zuar, al frente del ejército de la tribu de los hijos de Isacar; 16 Eliab, hijo de Helón, al frente del ejército de la tribu de los hijos de Zabulón.
17 Entonces el tabernáculo fue desarmado; y los hijos de Gersón, y los hijos de Merari, que llevaban el tabernáculo(P), partieron. 18 Después salió la bandera del campamento de Rubén, según sus ejércitos, con Elisur, hijo de Sedeur, al frente de su ejército(Q); 19 Selumiel, hijo de Zurisadai, al frente del ejército de la tribu de Simeón, 20 y Eliasaf, hijo de Deuel, estaba al frente del ejército de la tribu de los hijos de Gad.
21 Luego se pusieron en marcha los coatitas llevando los objetos sagrados(R); y el tabernáculo fue erigido antes de que ellos llegaran(S). 22 Después salió la bandera del campamento de los hijos de Efraín, según sus ejércitos, con Elisama, hijo de Amiud, al frente de su ejército(T); 23 Gamaliel, hijo de Pedasur, al frente del ejército de la tribu de los hijos de Manasés; 24 y Abidán, hijo de Gedeoni, al frente del ejército de la tribu de los hijos de Benjamín.

La marcha de Sinaí a Edom
29 Entonces Moisés dijo a Hobab(W), hijo de Reuel madianita, suegro de Moisés(X): «Nosotros salimos hacia el lugar del cual el Señor dijo: “Yo se lo daré a ustedes(Y)”. Ven con nosotros y te haremos bien(Z), pues el Señor ha prometido el bien a Israel(AA)». 30 Pero él le dijo: «No iré(AB), sino que me iré a mi tierra y a mi familia». 31 Después dijo Moisés: «Te ruego que no nos dejes, puesto que tú sabes dónde debemos acampar en el desierto, y serás como ojos para nosotros(AC). 32 Y será que si vienes con nosotros, el bien que el Señor nos haga(AD), te haremos nosotros(AE)».
33 Así partieron(AF) desde el monte del Señor tres días de camino, y el arca del pacto del Señor iba delante de ellos por los tres días, buscándoles un lugar(AG) dónde descansar(AH). 34 La nube del Señor iba sobre ellos de día desde que partieron del campamento(AI).
35 Y sucedía que cuando el arca se ponía en marcha, Moisés decía:
«¡Levántate, oh Señor!
Y sean dispersados Tus enemigos(AJ),
Huyan de Tu presencia los que te aborrecen(AK)».
36 Y cuando el arca descansaba, él decía:
