Two Silver Trumpets
10 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “Make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for (A)calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps. 3 When (B)they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 4 But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the (C)heads of the divisions of Israel, shall gather to you. 5 When you sound the (D)advance, (E)the camps that lie on the east side shall then begin their journey. 6 When you sound the advance the second time, then the camps that lie (F)on the south side shall begin their journey; they shall sound the call for them to begin their journeys. 7 And when the assembly is to be gathered together, (G)you shall blow, but not (H)sound the advance. 8 (I)The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an [a]ordinance forever throughout your generations.
9 (J)“When you go to war in your land against the enemy who (K)oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be (L)remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from your enemies. 10 Also (M)in the day of your gladness, in your appointed feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; and they shall be (N)a memorial for you before your God: I am the Lord your God.”
Departure from Sinai
11 Now it came to pass on the twentieth day of the second month, in the second year, that the cloud (O)was taken up from above the tabernacle of the Testimony. 12 And the children of Israel set out from the (P)Wilderness of Sinai on (Q)their journeys; then the cloud settled down in the (R)Wilderness of Paran. 13 So they started out for the first time (S)according to the command of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
14 The [b]standard of the camp of the children of Judah (T)set out first according to their armies; over their army was (U)Nahshon the son of Amminadab. 15 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethanel the son of Zuar. 16 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.
17 Then (V)the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set out, (W)carrying the tabernacle.
18 And (X)the standard of the camp of Reuben set out according to their armies; over their army was Elizur the son of Shedeur. 19 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai. 20 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
21 Then the Kohathites set out, carrying the (Y)holy things. (The tabernacle would be [c]prepared for their arrival.)
22 And (Z)the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set out according to their armies; over their army was Elishama the son of Ammihud. 23 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. 24 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.
25 Then (AA)the standard of the camp of the children of Dan (the rear guard of all the camps) set out according to their armies; over their army was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. 26 Over the army of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ocran. 27 And over the army of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.
28 (AB)Thus was the order of march of the children of Israel, according to their armies, when they began their journey.
29 Now Moses said to (AC)Hobab the son of (AD)Reuel[d] the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place of which the Lord said, (AE)‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and (AF)we will treat you well; for (AG)the Lord has promised good things to Israel.”
30 And he said to him, “I will not go, but I will depart to my own land and to my relatives.”
31 So Moses said, “Please do not leave, inasmuch as you know how we are to camp in the wilderness, and you can [e]be our (AH)eyes. 32 And it shall be, if you go with us—indeed it shall be—that (AI)whatever good the Lord will do to us, the same we will do to you.”
33 So they departed from (AJ)the mountain of the Lord on a journey of three days; and the ark of the covenant of the Lord (AK)went before them for the three days’ journey, to search out a resting place for them. 34 And (AL)the cloud of the Lord was above them by day when they went out from the camp.
35 So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said:
(AM)“Rise up, O Lord!
Let Your enemies be scattered,
And let those who hate You flee before You.”
36 And when it rested, he said:
“Return, O Lord,
To the many thousands of Israel.”

10 L’Eternel parla à Moïse, et dit: 2 Fais-toi deux trompettes d’argent; tu les feras d’argent battu. Elles te serviront pour la convocation de l’assemblée et pour le départ des camps. 3 Quand on en sonnera, toute l’assemblée se réunira auprès de toi, à l’entrée de la tente d’assignation. 4 Si l’on ne sonne que d’une trompette, les princes, les chefs des milliers d’Israël, se réuniront auprès de toi. 5 Quand vous sonnerez avec éclat, ceux qui campent à l’orient partiront; 6 quand vous sonnerez avec éclat pour la seconde fois, ceux qui campent au midi partiront: on sonnera avec éclat pour leur départ. 7 Vous sonnerez aussi pour convoquer l’assemblée, mais vous ne sonnerez pas avec éclat. 8 Les fils d’Aaron, les sacrificateurs, sonneront des trompettes. Ce sera une loi perpétuelle pour vous et pour vos descendants. 9 Lorsque, dans votre pays, vous irez à la guerre contre l’ennemi qui vous combattra, vous sonnerez des trompettes avec éclat, et vous serez présents au souvenir de l’Eternel, votre Dieu, et vous serez délivrés de vos ennemis. 10 Dans vos jours de joie, dans vos fêtes, et à vos nouvelles lunes, vous sonnerez des trompettes, en offrant vos holocaustes et vos sacrifices d’actions de grâces, et elles vous mettront en souvenir devant votre Dieu. Je suis l’Eternel, votre Dieu.
Départ du Sinaï
11 Le vingtième jour du second mois de la seconde année, la nuée s’éleva de dessus le tabernacle du témoignage. 12 Et les enfants d’Israël partirent du désert du Sinaï, selon l’ordre fixé pour leur marche. La nuée s’arrêta dans le désert de Paran. 13 Ils firent ce premier départ sur l’ordre de l’Eternel par Moïse.
14 La bannière du camp des fils de Juda partit la première, avec ses corps d’armée. Le corps d’armée de Juda était commandé par Nachschon, fils d’Amminadab; 15 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils d’Issacar, par Nethaneel, fils de Tsuar; 16 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Zabulon, par Eliab, fils de Hélon.
17 Le tabernacle fut démonté; et les fils de Guerschon et les fils de Merari partirent, portant le tabernacle.
18 La bannière du camp de Ruben partit, avec ses corps d’armée. Le corps d’armée de Ruben était commandé par Elitsur, fils de Schedéur; 19 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Siméon, par Schelumiel, fils de Tsurischaddaï; 20 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Gad, par Eliasaph, fils de Déuel.
21 Les Kehathites partirent, portant le sanctuaire; et l’on dressait le tabernacle en attendant leur arrivée.
22 La bannière du camp des fils d’Ephraïm partit, avec ses corps d’armée. Le corps d’armée d’Ephraïm était commandé par Elischama, fils d’Ammihud; 23 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Manassé, par Gamliel, fils de Pedahtsur; 24 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Benjamin, par Abidan, fils de Guideoni.
25 La bannière du camp des fils de Dan partit, avec ses corps d’armée: elle formait l’arrière-garde de tous les camps. Le corps d’armée de Dan était commandé par Ahiézer, fils d’Ammischaddaï; 26 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils d’Aser, par Paguiel, fils d’Ocran; 27 le corps d’armée de la tribu des fils de Nephthali, par Ahira, fils d’Enan.
28 Tel fut l’ordre d’après lequel les enfants d’Israël se mirent en marche selon leurs corps d’armée; et c’est ainsi qu’ils partirent.
29 Moïse dit à Hobab, fils de Réuel, le Madianite, beau-père de Moïse: Nous partons pour le lieu dont l’Eternel a dit: Je vous le donnerai. Viens avec nous, et nous te ferons du bien, car l’Eternel a promis de faire du bien à Israël. 30 Hobab lui répondit: Je n’irai point; mais j’irai dans mon pays et dans ma patrie. 31 Et Moïse dit: Ne nous quitte pas, je te prie; puisque tu connais les lieux où nous campons dans le désert, tu nous serviras de guide. 32 Et si tu viens avec nous, nous te ferons jouir du bien que l’Eternel nous fera.
33 Ils partirent de la montagne de l’Eternel, et marchèrent trois jours; l’arche de l’alliance de l’Eternel partit devant eux, et fit une marche de trois jours, pour leur chercher un lieu de repos. 34 La nuée de l’Eternel était au-dessus d’eux pendant le jour, lorsqu’ils partaient du camp.
35 Quand l’arche partait, Moïse disait: Lève-toi, Eternel! et que tes ennemis soient dispersés! que ceux qui te haïssent fuient devant ta face! 36 Et quand on la posait, il disait: Reviens, Eternel, aux myriades des milliers d’Israël!

1-2 Herren sa till Mose: Gör två trumpeter av hamrat silver. De ska användas när folket ska sammankallas eller för att ge signal när lägret ska brytas.
3 När båda trumpeterna ljuder ska folket veta att de ska samlas vid ingången till tabernaklet.
4 Men om man enbart blåser i den ena, är det bara ledarna för stammarna i Israel som ska komma till dig.
5-7 Olika trumpetsignaler behövs för att skilja mellan när folket ska samlas och när det är dags att bryta upp och dra vidare. Då första signalen för uppbrott ljuder, ska stammarna som slagit läger på östra sidan om tabernaklet ge sig av. Vid nästa signal är det dags för stammarna på södra sidan att gå.
8 Det är bara prästerna som har tillåtelse att blåsa i trumpeterna, och detta är en bestående lag som ska följas från generation till generation.
9 När ni kommer fram till det utlovade landet och drar ut i strid mot era fiender, ska Gud höra er och rädda er från era fiender, när ni blåser en larmsignal med dessa trumpeter.
10 Använd dem också under era fester och vid de årliga högtiderna och i början av varje månad. Ja, ni ska blåsa i dem när ni kommer med era brännoffer och tackoffer, och då ska Gud bli påmind om sitt förbund med er. För jag är Herren, er Gud.
11 Molnet lyfte från tabernaklet den tjugonde dagen i andra månaden, under det andra året efter att Israel hade lämnat Egypten.
12 Israeliterna lämnade då Sinai öken och följde molnet tills det stannade i öknen Paran.
13 Detta var deras första förflyttning sedan de tagit emot de instruktioner för resan som Herren gett Mose.
En bra början
14 Främst i ledet fanns Judas stam, grupperad bakom sitt banér och anförd av Naheson, Amminadabs son.
15 Därefter kom Isaskars stam, anförd av Netanel, Suars son,
16 och Sebulons stam, anförd av Eliab, Helons son.
17 Sedan kom männen från Gersons och Meraris avdelningar, som bar det nermonterade tabernaklet på sina axlar.
18 Rubens avdelning under sitt banér kom sedan med Elisur, Sedeurs son, som anförare.
19 Därefter kom Simeons stam under Selumiel, Surisaddais son,
20 och Gads stam anförd av Eljasaf, Deguels son.
21 Därnäst kom kehatiterna, som bar på de heliga tillbehören i tabernaklet. Tabernaklet skulle redan vara på sin nya plats när de kom fram.
22 Efter dem kom Efraims stam under sitt banér, anförd av Elisama, Ammihuds son;
23 Manasses stam, anförd av Gamliel, Pedasurs son,
24 och Benjamins stam, anförd av Abidan, Gideonis son.
25 Sist av alla, med sitt banér i spetsen, kom Dans stam, anförd av Ahieser, Ammisaddais son.
26 Asers stam anfördes av Pagiel, Okrans son,
27 och Naftalis stam av Ahira, Enans son.
28 Det var i denna ordning stammarna avtågade.
29 En dag sa Mose till sin svåger Hobab, son till Josefs svärfar, midjaniten Reguel: Äntligen är vi på väg till det utlovade landet. Kom med oss så ska vi behandla dig väl, för Herren har gett Israel underbara löften!
30 Men hans svåger svarade: Nej jag måste vända tillbaka hem till mitt eget land och min egen släkt.
31 Stanna hos oss, vädjade Mose. Du känner till vägarna i öknen och kommer att bli till god hjälp för oss.
32 Om du följer med, ska du få vara med och dela på allt det goda som Herren gör för oss.
33 Med Herrens ark längst fram vandrade de i tre dagar sedan de hade lämnat berget Sinai, för att komma fram till nästa plats där de skulle stanna.
34 Det var dag när de började sin vandring med molnet framför sig i skyn.
35 Varje gång arken bröt upp, utropade Mose: Stå upp, Herre, och förskingra dina fiender. Låt dem fly för dig!
36 Och när arken sattes ner, sa han: Vänd tillbaka, Herre, till Israels oräkneliga tusenden.
