1 And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
2 Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;
3 From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.
4 And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.
5 And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of the tribe of Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.
6 Of Simeon; Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.
7 Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab.
8 Of Issachar; Nethaneel the son of Zuar.
9 Of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon.
10 Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
11 Of Benjamin; Abidan the son of Gideoni.
12 Of Dan; Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.
13 Of Asher; Pagiel the son of Ocran.
14 Of Gad; Eliasaph the son of Deuel.
15 Of Naphtali; Ahira the son of Enan.
16 These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.
17 And Moses and Aaron took these men which are expressed by their names:
18 And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.
19 As the Lord commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.
20 And the children of Reuben, Israel's eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
21 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.
22 Of the children of Simeon, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, those that were numbered of them, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
23 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.
24 Of the children of Gad, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
25 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty.
26 Of the children of Judah, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
27 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Judah, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.
28 Of the children of Issachar, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
29 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.
30 Of the children of Zebulun, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
31 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.
32 Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
33 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred.
34 Of the children of Manasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
35 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.
36 Of the children of Benjamin, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
37 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.
38 Of the children of Dan, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
39 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Dan, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.
40 Of the children of Asher, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
41 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.
42 Of the children of Naphtali, throughout their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
43 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
44 These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.
45 So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;
46 Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
47 But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
48 For the Lord had spoken unto Moses, saying,
49 Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:
50 But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
51 And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
52 And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.
53 But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.
54 And the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so did they.

1 Habló Jehová a Moisés en el desierto de Sinaí, en el tabernáculo de reunión, en el día primero del mes segundo, en el segundo año de su salida de la tierra de Egipto, diciendo: 2 Tomad el censo(A) de toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel por sus familias, por las casas de sus padres, con la cuenta de los nombres, todos los varones por sus cabezas. 3 De veinte años arriba, todos los que pueden salir a la guerra en Israel, los contaréis tú y Aarón por sus ejércitos. 4 Y estará con vosotros un varón de cada tribu, cada uno jefe de la casa de sus padres. 5 Estos son los nombres de los varones que estarán con vosotros: De la tribu de Rubén, Elisur hijo de Sedeur. 6 De Simeón, Selumiel hijo de Zurisadai. 7 De Judá, Naasón hijo de Aminadab. 8 De Isacar, Natanael hijo de Zuar. 9 De Zabulón, Eliab hijo de Helón. 10 De los hijos de José: de Efraín, Elisama hijo de Amiud; de Manasés, Gamaliel hijo de Pedasur. 11 De Benjamín, Abidán hijo de Gedeoni. 12 De Dan, Ahiezer hijo de Amisadai. 13 De Aser, Pagiel hijo de Ocrán. 14 De Gad, Eliasaf hijo de Deuel. 15 De Neftalí, Ahira hijo de Enán. 16 Estos eran los nombrados de entre la congregación, príncipes de las tribus de sus padres, capitanes de los millares de Israel.
17 Tomaron, pues, Moisés y Aarón a estos varones que fueron designados por sus nombres, 18 y reunieron a toda la congregación en el día primero del mes segundo, y fueron agrupados por familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres por cabeza, de veinte años arriba. 19 Como Jehová lo había mandado a Moisés, los contó en el desierto de Sinaí.
20 De los hijos de Rubén, primogénito de Israel, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres por cabeza, todos los varones de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 21 los contados de la tribu de Rubén fueron cuarenta y seis mil quinientos.
22 De los hijos de Simeón, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, fueron contados conforme a la cuenta de los nombres por cabeza, todos los varones de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 23 los contados de la tribu de Simeón fueron cincuenta y nueve mil trescientos.
24 De los hijos de Gad, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 25 los contados de la tribu de Gad fueron cuarenta y cinco mil seiscientos cincuenta.
26 De los hijos de Judá, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 27 los contados de la tribu de Judá fueron setenta y cuatro mil seiscientos.
28 De los hijos de Isacar, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 29 los contados de la tribu de Isacar fueron cincuenta y cuatro mil cuatrocientos.
30 De los hijos de Zabulón, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de sus nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 31 los contados de la tribu de Zabulón fueron cincuenta y siete mil cuatrocientos.
32 De los hijos de José; de los hijos de Efraín, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 33 los contados de la tribu de Efraín fueron cuarenta mil quinientos.
34 Y de los hijos de Manasés, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 35 los contados de la tribu de Manasés fueron treinta y dos mil doscientos.
36 De los hijos de Benjamín, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 37 los contados de la tribu de Benjamín fueron treinta y cinco mil cuatrocientos.
38 De los hijos de Dan, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 39 los contados de la tribu de Dan fueron sesenta y dos mil setecientos.
40 De los hijos de Aser, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 41 los contados de la tribu de Aser fueron cuarenta y un mil quinientos.
42 De los hijos de Neftalí, por su descendencia, por sus familias, según las casas de sus padres, conforme a la cuenta de los nombres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra; 43 los contados de la tribu de Neftalí fueron cincuenta y tres mil cuatrocientos.
44 Estos fueron los contados, los cuales contaron Moisés y Aarón, con los príncipes de Israel, doce varones, uno por cada casa de sus padres. 45 Y todos los contados de los hijos de Israel por las casas de sus padres, de veinte años arriba, todos los que podían salir a la guerra en Israel, 46 fueron todos los contados seiscientos tres mil quinientos cincuenta.
Nombramiento de los levitas
47 Pero los levitas, según la tribu de sus padres, no fueron contados entre ellos; 48 porque habló Jehová a Moisés, diciendo: 49 Solamente no contarás la tribu de Leví, ni tomarás la cuenta de ellos entre los hijos de Israel, 50 sino que pondrás a los levitas en el tabernáculo del testimonio, y sobre todos sus utensilios, y sobre todas las cosas que le pertenecen; ellos llevarán el tabernáculo y todos sus enseres, y ellos servirán en él, y acamparán alrededor del tabernáculo. 51 Y cuando el tabernáculo haya de trasladarse, los levitas lo desarmarán, y cuando el tabernáculo haya de detenerse, los levitas lo armarán; y el extraño que se acercare morirá. 52 Los hijos de Israel acamparán cada uno en su campamento, y cada uno junto a su bandera, por sus ejércitos; 53 pero los levitas acamparán alrededor del tabernáculo del testimonio, para que no haya ira sobre la congregación de los hijos de Israel; y los levitas tendrán la guarda del tabernáculo del testimonio. 54 E hicieron los hijos de Israel conforme a todas las cosas que mandó Jehová a Moisés; así lo hicieron.

You and Aaron shall number them by their armies. 4 And with you there shall be a man from every tribe, each one the head of his father’s house.
5 “These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: from Reuben, Elizur the son of Shedeur; 6 from Simeon, Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai; 7 from Judah, Nahshon the son of Amminadab; 8 from Issachar, Nethanel the son of Zuar; 9 from Zebulun, Eliab the son of Helon; 10 from the sons of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama the son of Ammihud; from Manasseh, Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur; 11 from Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gideoni; 12 from Dan, Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai; 13 from Asher, Pagiel the son of Ocran; 14 from Gad, Eliasaph the son of (H)Deuel;[a] 15 from Naphtali, Ahira the son of Enan.” 16 (I)These were (J)chosen[b] from the congregation, leaders of their fathers’ tribes, (K)heads of the divisions in Israel.
17 Then Moses and Aaron took these men who had been [c]mentioned (L)by name, 18 and they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they recited their (M)ancestry by families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, each one individually. 19 As the Lord commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai.
20 Now the (N)children of Reuben, Israel’s oldest son, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, every male individually, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war: 21 those who were numbered of the tribe of Reuben were forty-six thousand five hundred.
22 From the (O)children of Simeon, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, of those who were numbered, according to the number of names, every male individually, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war: 23 those who were numbered of the tribe of Simeon were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.
24 From the (P)children of Gad, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war: 25 those who were numbered of the tribe of Gad were forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.
26 From the (Q)children of Judah, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war: 27 those who were numbered of the tribe of Judah were (R)seventy-four thousand six hundred.
28 From the (S)children of Issachar, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war: 29 those who were numbered of the tribe of Issachar were fifty-four thousand four hundred.
30 From the (T)children of Zebulun, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war: 31 those who were numbered of the tribe of Zebulun were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.
32 From the sons of Joseph, the (U)children of Ephraim, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war: 33 those who were numbered of the tribe of Ephraim were forty thousand five hundred.
34 From the (V)children of Manasseh, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war: 35 those who were numbered of the tribe of Manasseh were thirty-two thousand two hundred.

40 From the (Y)children of Asher, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war: 41 those who were numbered of the tribe of Asher were forty-one thousand five hundred.
42 From the children of Naphtali, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war: 43 those who were numbered of the tribe of Naphtali were fifty-three thousand four hundred.
44 (Z)These are the ones who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, with the leaders of Israel, twelve men, each one representing his father’s house. 45 So all who were numbered of the children of Israel, by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war in Israel— 46 all who were numbered were (AA)six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
47 But (AB)the Levites were not numbered among them by their fathers’ tribe; 48 for the Lord had spoken to Moses, saying: 49 (AC)“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, nor take a census of them among the children of Israel; 50 (AD)but you shall appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, over all its furnishings, and over all things that belong to it; they shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; they shall attend to it (AE)and camp around the tabernacle. 51 (AF)And when the tabernacle is to go forward, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it (AG)up. (AH)The outsider who comes near shall be put to death. 52 The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, (AI)everyone by his own camp, everyone by his own standard, according to their armies; 53 (AJ)but the Levites shall camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no (AK)wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel; and the Levites shall (AL)keep[d] charge of the tabernacle of the Testimony.”
54 Thus the children of Israel did; according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so they did.
