The Cloud over the Sacred Tent
(Exodus 40.34-38)
15-16 As soon as the sacred tent was set up,[a] a thick cloud appeared and covered it. The cloud was there each day, and during the night, a fire could be seen in it. 17-19 The Lord used this cloud to tell the Israelites when to move their camp and where to set it up again. As long as the cloud covered the tent, the Israelites did not break camp. But when the cloud moved, they followed it, and wherever it stopped, they camped and stayed there,

Numbers 9:16-18
New International Version
16 That is how it continued to be; the cloud covered it, and at night it looked like fire.(A) 17 Whenever the cloud lifted from above the tent, the Israelites set out;(B) wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped.(C) 18 At the Lord’s command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained(D) in camp.
