^33 (A)So you shall not pollute the land in which you are; for blood pollutes the land and no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed on it, except ^(B)by the blood of him who shed it. ³⁴ You shall not ^(C)defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which ^(D)I dwell; for I the Lord am dwelling in the midst of the sons of Israel.’”

¹⁴ Then they called on the ^(A)Lord and said, “We earnestly pray, O Lord, do not let us perish on account of this man’s life and do not put innocent blood on us; for ^(B)You, O Lord, have done as You have pleased.”
