2 The women invited them to the sacrifices for their gods, and the people ate and bowed in worship to their gods.(A) 3 So Israel aligned itself with Baal of Peor,(B) and the Lord’s anger burned against Israel.(C) 4 The Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of the people and execute[a] them in broad daylight before the Lord so that his burning anger may turn away from Israel.”

2 who invited them to the sacrifices(A) to their gods.(B) The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods. 3 So Israel yoked themselves to(C) the Baal of Peor.(D) And the Lord’s anger burned against them.
4 The Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders(E) of these people, kill them and expose(F) them in broad daylight before the Lord,(G) so that the Lord’s fierce anger(H) may turn away from Israel.”
